True story: my doctor put me on Prozac once. Not only was it useless as an antidepressant, but I got heartburn and really bad gas. REALLY bad gas! I didn't really need an antidepressant until I took that antidepressant.

I learned just last week that about half the time someone's prescribed antibiotics, it's only meant as a placebo. Like with bronchitis, it's caused by a virus so antibiotics shouldn't help it much, but people get better more quickly anyway.

Fun fact: antibiotics cause digestive problems because they kill off the bacteria in your gut that naturally helps you process your food. When you come off the medication, you should look for some pills that contain dormant symbiotic bacteria so you can replenish your internal colony.

My family makes jokes about stuff like this every time a commercial for a medication goes into it's disclaimers. "Side effects may include vomiting blah blah blah erectile dysfunction or inability to breathe. Go to your doctor and see if this stuff is right for you!"
