Description
The Grey Squirrel..Not a native species to the UK...
Introduced to in the 19th century to various private estates and parks...
Their success has been to the detriment of our native Red squirrels.
Originally from North America...
Now found literally everywhere throughout the UK...
They are absent from the rest of mainland Europe, except for small populations found in areas of Italy.
Love them or hate them...They are here to stay..

carolina grey!
they are even a problem in the appalachain mountains, where they are native.
they kick flying squirrels out of their nests. its interesting to have an endangered species that ISNT endangered by humans...
nice shot there ^__^ the color and contrast are well balanced

Yeah these are invaders to our shores..
Our red population suffered terribly through the introduction of the Grey..( and of course the loss of habitat suitable for the red didn't help them either..)

That's wierd a animal can get to suffer, because a family-member moves in!!!? Wonder if they fight for survival, 'cause the grey is a little bigger

I think it was just the fact that these greys breed like rabbits here...Hundreds of them...
The limited habitat that was suitable for the red was taken over by hordes of greys...Food became an issue etc..And I know the greys can be viscious little swine as well..So whether physical attack of the red by the greys came into the equation I do not know..
