Description
Another Grimm Artwork made by creating the masterpiece of the Hvitur Ridari. While the previous knight grimms appear in the world, these Grimms were manmade."A complete new type of Grimm, not born from the darkness of the world, but by the cruelty of the Dark Goddess and her servant.
While the Hvitur Ridari was the prototype for these creatures, the Grotesques are the perfect model of the weaponized Grimm. Like their prototypes, these creatures of Grimm are Geist’s which have been merged with a suit of armor.
The Grotesque take a step forward, instead of inhabiting empty suits of armor, they take hold of warriors at the verge of death, fusing itself with the armor and keeping the human inside constantly at said verge. The humans inside the suit have no control over their actions, neither can they die, forever being denied the release of death. Thus their emotions run wild and produce huge amount of negative energy from which the grimm are drawn to. Because they are alive, if one could call that state living, their body still possesses a soul and thus the ability to use aura.
The Grimm literally squeezed them of their aura, forcing them to use their semblance and allowing the Grimm to wield their weapons like their former owner.
This particular model is fashioned after Oscar Vinvalier, the Brave or as others would call him, Oscar l'implacable. This noble warrior was a force to be reckoned with and was highly adept with his claymore and blood semblance. It was said that he charged alone towards armies and fought through them without stopping. It was unknown of how he died, but the fate bestowed upon him was crueler than death. Serving as a guardian of the Dun Valdis castle and awaiting a chance to fight and die like a warrior should."
In terms of combat ability, this Grimm possesses enough strength to shatter the aura of an average huntsman with a single blow and agility to evade a coordinated attack from each side. While the human within the grimm is barely alive, it still retains the abilities of the Relentless Knight.
In the archives of the Dun Valdis libary, Oscar was remembered as one of the greatest knights, fit to become the next Knight Lord. But when the Vinvaliers fell, so did any trace of him. Until this Grimm emerged from the shadows of Dun Valdis.
And sadly, Oscar was not the first, but not the last Vinvalier to have fallen to this cruel fate. The great hall within Dun Valdis is lined with at least four dozen and the remaining are spread across the castle, awaiting any foolish invader to trespass on their domain.
As you may have noticed, Oscar represents the Elite Knight of Dark Souls, from which this Grimm is based upon.
As always, RWBY and the Creatures of Grimm were created by and belong to him.
The design of this Grimm is my idea, but thanks goes to for the awesome coloring.

This is insanely badass and really makes me want to see it go up against my Grimm who's also humanoid in appearance!

I'm having the Grimm sheet done, I'll link it when it's finished so you can check him out. Funny thing is my guy is also about speed and strength.
Was also visualizing the fight with the track Damnation from Doom. Maybe when mine is done we can get the artist to draw it out? Haha, I wanted to commission them but they closed.

>warriors at the verge of death
Oh god, Pyrrha and Yang are gonna end up in these monsters, aren't they?

Not really. It's the semblance of the Vinvaliers which makes it possible.
The Schnee family has their glyphs which they pass on.
The Vinvaliers have their corrupted blood. And blood is the road of life.
Their bodies may be dead, but the very aura is still inside their bodies, in their blood. Keep that alive and you get this abomination.
Pyrrha and Yang don't possess that kind of aura.

Oscar, what the hell, I thought I 'freed' you back at the Asylum
So, the Grotesque IS the Undead Curse, sorta, minus the ability to come back from the dead and losing a part of your already blurred memory (if there is any left), and is only restricted to victimize anyone who's at the verge of death.
Hmm, but what if the victim doesn't wear a suit of armor? Would it directly possess the dying warrior instead?

The Grimm inhabits the suit of armor and keeps the corpse alive. Geists seem to be able to inhabit inanimate objects. If the armor is destroyed, so is the Grimm and the victim within will die too. For good.

Looking at the design, I believe the Grotesque's head is at the back of the corpse, or the back of the armor itself?
(If you've had your fair share of getting constantly backstabbed back in the first Dark Souls, I believe you would know why I asked for the Grotesque's position when it's possessed a poor soul clad in armor.)

I never thought of that, but that would be a very good reason why it's placed there. The grimm has two eyes, one at the head and another at its back.

Now someone just needs to rip that cape to shreds so it can see behind it. xD

Most people would go for the head, but even with the head gone, it's body still functions.

Exactly.
Like the Chosen Undead, this grimm will not fall easily. He can't use estus though.

Nope. Once dead, stays dead.
...but make sure it stays dead..
