Description
The third addition to my season series. This time Spring.
Some throughts I had while painting this:
Spring has to fight her way out of the grasp of Winter before she can fully blossom.
Thus the webish cocoon thing at the bottom of her dress.
The dress itself is supposed to mimic a caterpillar at the bottom and the floating veils should sympolize the transformation into a butterfly (probably a bit too much symbolism and suger hmm?)..
I added the cloudy weather because April belongs to Spring and I really hate the moody character of that Month..you can have sun and the next time clouds coming in and rain for hours..
Some other things which are personal to me have been added as well but I am not going to bore you with that
I used a smiliar picture of myself for the arms and hands (didn't help much though - I shouldn't have chosen that pose to start with...) and all different kind of butterfly pictures and flowers (mainly of chinese cherry trees and Magnolias (spelling?))
No references for the clothing or anything else
Hope you enjoy!

wow, really awesome digital painting I like your choice of colours very much, even if my choice of colours for spring would be totally different. But that's the nice thing of other art, seeing the world through the eyes of somebody else

It's unusual "sweet" for me but somehow it fits the memories I have of spring in Switzerland.
I guess it's different all over the world

actually she is slightly smiling and she is supposed to look a bit invitating too It's better visible on the closeups though

I think she is struggling out of Winter's embrace to be born, and birth is never an easy thing, though joyous.

Wooo this turned out sooo beautiful!
Magnolias have started to blossom here too
I don't think this would need any crits... other than what you already know about the hands, this is perfect. <3

Hey you Thanks again Linda, also for the fav!
I tried to work a bit more on her hands..you think it's coming along better? >_< It actually shows more in the closeups but it loses so much in the full version I uploaded here

That is definitely a tricky pose, very daring of you to try it. I think it turned out well considering. I think my favorite part is the texture of the lower background and the webbing around the bottom of her dress. It all looks so natural and realistic

Absolutely stunning, like everything else you make. Such detail you put in, even after seeing a few of your step-by-step pieces, just blows my mind. It's art like yours that makes me strive to get better, even if I am incredibly detail-challenged when it comes to visual arts.

There are a select few amazing and astounding artists I've found on here that just inspire me to no end, and make me want to get to where they are (you obviously being one of them ^^) even if I know it won't be for a long while that I'll get anywhere near where any of you are at!

Excellent, very telling drawing.. you might have won the hands, but a second look admits that the arms might have been sacrificed to achive that victory
Still one of your really top 5. congrat

That really does look great ^_^ I think the part I like the most is the perspective of the petals and how there are a couple close to the viewer that are blurred out, really gives a sense of depth to the peice ^__^ great job!
