Description
[EDIT 3/5/10 - did some major revamping on this picture today. Resized some things, fixed the hair, refined the effects, shading, and background.]Arggh I did this whole thing in one night *dead*
Was waiting on some friends who were having last-minute computer trouble to send some files for printing for A-Kon. I got this crazy idea that maybe I could squeeze out one more new picture by the time I had to send off for the prints. Man I'm tired!
Too much shiny desu... and I thought I was finally getting over that, curses!

This image is a bit of inspiration for a character I roleplay ... love it, love it, love it. Thank you for drawing this, as long ago as it was.

I can't fathom how you do this, ...it amazes me...(sigh) wow...How long have you been doing digital art?

there's nothing special about this really, I mean it doesn't take that much looking around to find much more impressive pieces of digital art, but I'm glad you like it
Digital art is really simple once the mystery is taken out of it. All you need is a decent program and preferably a tablet, then it's as simple as drawing and coloring anywhere else, easier actually. Like any tool it takes time to learn and you have to practice technique but I find it is easy to improve by studying the technique and methods of other artists.
I don't remember exactly when I started doing digital art, but it was very early on. Probably around 7 years ago. It will take a lot more time to get as good as I would like to be

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question
So what program would you recommend for a beginner?

I would recommend Painttool Sai (downloadable program, 30day free trial, about $60 for full version. This is what I use for everything nowadays) or the baby versions of Painter or Photoshop (Painter Essentials or Photoshop Elements). Those are my recommendations anyway

Sure you can reference it; just don't post it if any tracing/copying is involved . What kind of faces? Um, not really sure, it changes constantly depending on my mood.

It's not too shiny. In fact, it looks a whole lot better than some art I've seen. Love it!
