Something for a calendar project started by I was asked to do two pictures but bad stuff happened and the deadline totally passed me by, and I had to rush to finish up this old sketch that I've posted around before. Didn't have enough time to fight with the hands and clouds so it's kinda meh, but it was fun to color again.I felt like fucking it all up at the last minute. The calendar version isn't all blurred
God there are so many stupid clouds in my gallery; I really want to get good at them but I keep being cheap with the brushes in SAI.

I think the blur actually adds a cool effect if you look closely.

It's just strategically placed blobs of white, blue and gray paint really. There's a brush setting in SAI that gives a nice shape and I use that sometimes, but really there is nothing special about it, it's mostly about just getting the right shapes (And I'm still not happy with how I do it)

*giggling at your comment* But I feel like cloudy backgrounds have become your signiture in a way. Even if you feel like it's just a cheap trick, I think it really adds depth and personality to a picture. Looking at this picture makes me feel like it's an old memory coming back... except in anime form XD I love it.

Ah well I usually draw an absurd number of layers (clothing layers, like someone wearing 4 shirts) so that sometimes gives the illusion of a complex outfit, but really I just draw lines and come up with basic types (vest, tshirt, cape, shorts, pants) and then add details I think are fun at the moment and then agonize over the color scheme and patterns. If there was more in my gallery you'd be able to see that I never draw the same character the same way twice, so really I just go with whatever I feel like at the moment, if that makes sense
