how the light quality becomes so pleasant in the springtime... after the cold, dreary winter

I could'nt agree with you more on the quality of light. It seems to me that in the winter, the sun just never really rises at all. It's 10:00 a.m. all day.
However, and conversely, the crisp clear air on a cold winters night, with a full moon, and the sky overflowing with stars, is very hard to beat.
