Description
Surprise surprise! It's a painting of a tree!So this piece has been worked on pretty intently in the past two days. I've probably spent about 16-20 hours in the past two days painting it, not including making the panel for it. I first airbrushed the image in black, put a red/brown wash over that and then went over that with the oil paint.

It's 24" X 48"

WOW.... I could favorite every picture in your gallery. You're inspiring me to actually use my airbrush, YAY! I've always had trouble with them getting super clogged and gettting no work done except trying to clean the stupid thing. when I first started using them in a highschool art class I used stencils with them- is there a special kind of airbrush for the painting type work you do?

You SHOULD pick up that ol' airbrush and give it a go! I generally use Iwata brand airbrushes (3 out of the 6 I own...) but I also have a paasche and a badger and a large no-name one. The badger was my first, and it was a gift... They're the lower of quality of brushes, but can be used just as well with some practice... Although they won't get quite the fine line as a more expensive brush. I could give you loads of advice if you were planning on buying a new one, but I'd say work with what you got, and see how you like that before dropping almost $100 on a new one!
If it's clogging, chances are your paint mixture is off... Make sure you clean out all the internal parts before you start, so you're starting off right. Then, if you really want to play around with practically no chance of clogging.... Use india ink! It's what I use almost primarily. India ink with white over top. I also recommend createx airbrush paints, thinned a tiny bit with either water, or airbrush medium.... If it still clogs, your air pressure may be too low, or you may have a problem with the needle being bent? Although chances are it's just the paint mixture. Make sure you mix the paint SUPER well before you use it...
Hope that helps! Let me know if there's still problems... Or if you have any other quetions...
