part II: [link]

PHEW!

ok so like i said, i've been working on a book binding tutorial, since i know that i would've been so grateful for something like this back when i didn't have a clue how to make a book but really wanted too

this took me all day, so i hope it's helpful, and i hope you can understand what i'm going on about xD some parts were really difficult to explain in writing...
and it includes all my secrets, so i hope those of you who do give it a go appreciate it!

obviously this is only part I, and it includes making your covers and inside pages. hopefully i'll be able to put more work into finishing it tomorrow, otherwise i won't be able to get the rest up till after christmas and you'll all be stuck with half a book lol!

this is going to be the same style of book as this one: [link]
in case you were interested in having a look at what it will look like when it's done

ANYWAY. if you do take a stab at bookmaking and you use my tutorial give me a shout, i'd love to see how you do!

and if there are any questions so far, post them here and i'll gladly answer them if i can

This is a better way of attaching the signatures together than what I've previously done. Thanks!

I've been meaning to try bookbinding for some time, and this tutorial finally pushed me into the inspired mindset to do so. It helped me out a lot and I really love binding books now~

My first attempt turned out okay, due solely to this fantastically informing tutorial.

I did something like this as a kid! This brings back memories.

If you soak the paper in tea first, it will make it look really old.

WarpstarNova [2009-12-08 00:27:18 +0000 UTC]

tutorial is very small, and hard to see. but it was worth trying to squint and read!

this is a project i'm definitely thinking about of doing over christmas break. as a kid, i always wanted to have my own book, and in first grade, i remember folding in half a ton of copy paper and just stapling it together. i stared at my composition notebooks in attempt to understand the binding. oh, and did i mention that that phat stack of copy paper, i tried to staple it and ended up wasting it all?

when i saw this in the DDs, i was like, "my mystery has finally been solved!"

so, thank you, thank you for sharing this.
