I agree very much! Why do women like showing themselves like that? it doesn't make them prettier than they were before!

So are you okay with covering your whole body like in Saudi Arabia?

sure, why not. I mean it might look a bit weird but it's not a big deal
Better than going around in underwear

But here's the problem with that. Usually if you show anything even by accident requires to be stoned to death. And I can't even begin with the problems of heat waves and vision.

That sounds terrible, D: I guess I don't want to be an Arabian woman

But I still don't see the problem with modest dressing in general, I mean just because America has the no rules against showing off their bodies doesn't mean they should be. Modesty can just be wearing a T shirt instead of a super low and tight tank top, or wearing shorts that go to your mid-thigh instead of you butt.

I think it's crazy for people to kill a woman for accidentally showing anything but her eyes, but that doesn't mean you should be the exact opposite.

I hope you know is lying and is just trying to mix his bias and Islamic ideals in with Christian ones, if you look at my comments on this stamp I call him out on his bs to the point he stops talking to me, I knew every word he said to me was a lie and so was what he told you. Don't take him seriously, you're on the right path, not him. God bless you.

No but you're not getting my point. According to the bible, the women in Saudi Arabia dress modestly while what you described (Wearing a t-shirt) the women are considered harlets, whores, sluts, and all that. The bible thinks women are property of their fathers until they are married, then they are the property of their husbands. But you have to appreciate the fact that we live in a secular government in which we have the right to dress how we want. And we have reasonable limits to how we dress since we're not allowed to go out naked and even to what constitutes indecency. It's a good thing we do not live in a Christian nation because that would be considered Authoritarian and oppressive. The whole point of that passage was to control women since it doesn't regulate men when it comes to that subject.

Hell yeah! I'm glad there are people in my age group who truly agree with and strongly abide by strict dress codes, because I have the urge to salute anyone who vocally commands me to make a clothing adjustment that requires concealing a certain part of the body besides just a certain percentage of it! It'll definitely retain my innocence besides just my early adulthood maturity! Doing so will so prevent me from becoming an unmarried biological mother, and no one wants that to happen!

How is obedience brave? Under that logic, George Washington and our founding fathers would be considered cowards for rebelling against the British, Harriet Tubman would be a coward for leading slaves to freedom, and Rosa Parks would be a coward for not moving to the back of the bus.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lightmare7 In reply to BrYttBRatt [2011-06-21 17:21:23 +0000 UTC]

Very good question! this is an explanation for that:

"Those were specific practices that were causing distractions and discord in the church. Women in the first century often wove "gold or pearls" or other jewelryinto their hairstyles ("braided hair") to call attention to themselves and their wealth or beauty."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrYttBRatt In reply to Lightmare7 [2011-06-23 14:04:42 +0000 UTC]

I guess I was confused because I always thought braids were a modest hairstyle. Nowadays, braids may be associated with innocence (like a little girl with twin braids) or domesticity (like a housewife wearing an apron and her hair in a single loose braid in the back).

Hmmm. Pearls woven into braided hair. That does sound pretty

Lightmare7 In reply to BrYttBRatt [2011-06-23 16:48:31 +0000 UTC]

women with braids look very nice and yes, very innocent in some way I think they look pretty. The problem that the passage presents is that those women in that church were just trying to draw attention to themselves and also distract others from worship

BrYttBRatt In reply to Lightmare7 [2011-06-24 00:34:56 +0000 UTC]

yes that's true that will allways happen in some degree and it's growing constantly. There are also women who like to do that on purpose. No one should deliberately set a stumbling block for men or women's relationship with God.

I agree with you,
To me, it's rather silly to running around in clothing that looks like you might as well be running around in your underwear, not to mention it can be dangerous due to the fact that the clothing can be easily pulled off and makes one all the more of an easy target.
Besides, I bet alot of guys enjoy modesty.... :/

Lightmare7 In reply to Fire-Dragon10 [2011-02-28 17:44:25 +0000 UTC]

good point!

Sensuality is not good. It doesn't come from God.

Ephesians 4:19-20 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
But that is not the way you learned Christ!--

Sensuality comes from a heart that is in disobedience to God. Men can also be sensually minded. God gives women a place of honor and purity. The book of Proverbs is full of examples of both women who are spiritually minded and sensually minded.

And in fact, many of us do enjoy modesty. It causes admiration in us.

That is very true, I don't wear skimpy outfits because they make me feel very uncomfortable and I'm very naive, which adds to the danger factor.

Now if a woman was wearing a tanktop and short shorts and was out for a jog on a hot summer's day, I can understand that because if more skin is exposed, the faster the cooling rate is. Swimwear is iffy for me because of the bikinis... Good grief people, do we really need swimwear that look like lingerie?!

right, it's a balance, and you're right about swimmwear. Many of them are designed to arouse the opposite sex. It does look like lingerie. I've heard of a lady who design modest swimmwear

Besides, the local pools are for swimming and the beach is for swimming, sight-seeing, fishing, etc, NOT for showing your stuff off. The children do NOT need to see that anyways!

Lightmare7 In reply to Fire-Dragon10 [2011-03-02 04:26:29 +0000 UTC]

yes, that's true. I remember something from a christian book I've read a couple of years ago, that is probably what many christian boys experience today, I can't remember the exact words but it was something like this.

(The author speaking) I went shoping with my family and then at some point I notice that my son was troubled. His mother asked him if he was alright and he said that they passed by a store that had images of women in lingerie outside the store. The little boy was feeling guilty and dirty and he said to his mother: Please help me mom, those women in my mind just don't go away...
