Description
It could be his rejection and defeat, or it could be the first time he fell in love with Sarah. Both are painful, thrilling falls. A little melodramatic for me, but it gets the point across. (I'm lame!)I'm stuck on that long panel look. This whole thing was an excuse to draw the animal bones on the shoulders of Jareth's owl coat in the last act of Labyrinth, and you can't see much of them. I want to do another.
This one was frustrating and I don't know how I feel about it. I did it during a bad cold, so I was cranky and stuffy and inclined to half-ass it. Goddamn, I don't know what I was thinking with all the fabric. Never again, unless I get some skills.
The title kind of needs explaining; I've been really heartbroken twice in my life, and both times the only thing that made me feel better was listening to "Drowndeep: Hula" by Maxwell. It's an undulating, underwater song, appropriately embryonic, like a good Codeine fog. It put a new feeling to the word "hula".
materials: ink and Letraset illustration marker on bristol, plus a touch of the ol' PS
music: Maxwell, "Drowndeep: Hula"

This is just such an emotional piece. I love the symbolism and Jareth's pained expression. I'm quite literally speechless. This piece is just so wonderful.

Jareth: "Just let me rule you. Fear me, love me, do what I say and I will be your slave."
Sarah: "I dunno, that sounds like a pretty unhealthy co-dependent setup that's just asking for a relationship disas - wait, do what you say?!"
Jareth: "Damn straight, woman! Now git in the kitchen and make me a sammidge!"
(Sorry, I had to.)

I watch Labyrinth since I was 5 years old, and even back there I saw how sad he was...

you know the first thing i noticed about this was the bird skull on his shoulder. it makes sense that it was your focus. there's really a good sense of falling here. i totally get the point you were trying to make. the fact that his expression seems pained but not painful is perfect.

"I...I...I..." - THWAP! "OWWWW!!!"
Yeah, that's me trying to stammer out a response, followed by my roommate's whacking me upside the head to get my brain working again. Hon, you may have died from suffocation by digital fabric, but I must say it would've been an honored death.
The lines, the colors, the shading and detail you put into this. And yes, I'll agree with the masses, you've done an incredible job of Bowie-Jareth. Must say he's my favorite of all Jareth renditions, despite how pretty the others are; Bowie-Jareth just has more substance, more presence, especially here in your pic. I hope you do more like this one. *smile* Brava, brava, bravissima!

*^_^* You're so nice.
I saw this beautiful digital painting of Jareth, except that it was a totally different face, and the artist was like, "Yeah, it's not Bowie, deal with it. He's lacking in prettiness." And I was like, You're retarded. Bowie MAKES Jareth. It's his finesse and purr, his elegance and magic that makes Jareth everything he is. And God, he's so beautiful!

I really enjoy starring at this picture for a good 12 minutes. The different textures were really intriguing and the colors soft and calming combined with the pain of the picture really sucks you in. I also really liked his face, it showed emotion with out making him look overly harsh. Well Done!

Hooooooly crap. That doesn't look at all half-assed to me.
It's beautiful; I love the flow and the color scheme. And all that frustrating fabric actually came out looking very nice.
Also, his face came out, like... REALLY well. A lot of people try to get their Jareth drawings to really look like David Bowie; I think you definitely succeeded.

I saw this one gorgeous digital rendering of Jareth, except the face was totally different. The girl was like, "I'm not using David Bowie because he lacks prettyness, so get over it." And I was like... you're retarded. Bowie gave the character his grace and finesse, his air of subtle sexual overtures, his emotional sweetness and danger. Jareth IS Bowie.

Agreed, agreed. I don't mind when people deviate away from Bowie's looks because of their personal, stylized style; but when they don't give him the credit he deserves, it bothers me.
And damn it all, *I* think David Bowie's pretty. D:<
