This is Willow. She was a very mild-mannered, kind, soft-spoken lady, though not without her snarky side-and she quite enjoyed screwing with ponies for a laugh. She was a field medic in the Royal Lunar Guard. She met Nocturnus the day he lost his eye in an aerial fight with a griffon thief. As Noct slowly came to in his infirmary bed, catching sight of a beautiful bat pony mare peering down at him, her face softly haloed by the overhead lights-well, Noct never misses a chance to flirt, even when wounded, so he wondered aloud if he'd died and had an angel looking down at him. Willow cheerfully replied that no, he was in fact alive, and that any hallucinations of angels were only a side effect of the morphine. Noct pouted.

-Nocturnus mostly fondly referred to her as "Doc", even after they got married

-She died when Primrose was around toddler age

-She was a master herbalist and tended an enormous garden. Noct still keeps up Willow's garden because of all the memories it contains. There's an enormous weeping willow tree there where they had their first kiss, where Noct later proposed, where they eventually conceived Primrose....and years later, Primrose likes to lie in the tree's shade and "talk" to her mother.

-Primrose's white coat is a genetic anomaly among bat ponies, and it is somewhat related to her paralyzed hind legs: . Prim was born small and weak with many health problems, but Willow did everything in her medical knowledge to ensure her daughter's survival. She loved Primrose very much.

-debating whether or not to make her Umbra's sister:

-I had a thought that newborn bat pony foals want to cling to a parent's chest* almost immediately after they get their first milk, and this is where they want to be for the first couple months of their lives. Cribs are out of the question for these foals, only the feeling of a heartbeat and the soothing smell of their parents' fur will keep them calm. They all eventually grow out of this clingy phase when they start running around (though a teddy bear smelling like their parents is a MUST at nappy times for a while after that). Primrose is no exception to this, although every now and then when she's feeling sick or especially tired, she'll want to sleep clinging to Noct's chest like she used to as a baby. He absolutely treasures these rare moments, and gets wistful for her newborn days.

(*So I figure this is done like real bat babies, like claws on the tips of the wings to latch on the fur. I'm sure bat ponies have special little chest holders for newborns too.)
