Description In the Chlorofields world there are a bunch of stone monuments that respond to the keys characters carry.
These little view master ones teleport you to ones you've previously activated (dang it! Another thing that works better for a game than a comic! >:0 ).
There are smaller ones that only transport between each other, whether you've been to the other before or not.

Anyway, just a heads up, flashback stuff of Lolo has him in this uniform.
Just saying ^^

Also, if you would like to know what the flag says, you should totally go ask Keali
Because the language, Likan, is her brainchild ^^
She's approachable!
So yeah, there we go.
Oh! Also, the monster in the back is Lolo's nemesis.
It's called Aghugga.

Or as my dad called him "aOOOgaaa!" :/

That teleport thing is actually pretty neat, but gets kind of scary too when you have bossesΒ
near by. (It seems to be a new thing in Persona Q, and when I teleported with one, I ended up
standing right next to a boss, ouch... There went my two hours of tanking and no saving.)Β

Your world building is always the best ;___; You are such a pro at it!

"Get out of here STALKER." For real though I really dig this piece.

NeatΒ sceneryΒ and subject matter. I can definitely see this in print!

You may want to work on color theory and separations to add depth though.
An easy test to see how flat they appear is to grayscale them, when each subject layer is the same shade of gray, then they appear "flat". Foreground is typically darker, while the background is lighter. It's an easy adjustment that will pay dividends. Β  Β

I dunno, it looked pretty dynamic to me when I greyscaled it. Value wise at least.
For this one in particular though, I actually was deliberately applying my understanding of color theory
I was starting from an orange theme and tried to choose colors that went with the theme color.

I'm gonna try that greyscale test a lot though because it does seem very useful. Especially for looking at the picture in terms of shading composition. After I greyed this one it did seem like I could have established the dark areas a bit more.

I'll admit, it's all dependent upon personal preference and style. Β In the grayscale you'll see that each area on average, is relatively the same shade of gray. Β If you desaturate and blur the image, you may see the consistency more. Β Having each area's average be distinct a shade, will help separate the layers.

Noooo! Lolo! Look behind you!! There's a big spooky guy! With mouths on his eyes!! (Seriously, one can get lost in looking for all the lil details in this. XD Which is why I love your work!)

And great job on writing the likan! *tilts head.* That looks like a warning sign. (maybe the poor dude got petrified?? Or maybe just a statue. XDD)

Hey, I've been meaning to ask about that. In your petrification. Do things held/worn by the character being petrified, also turn to stone? And if remedied, could this unlock items that the pet. person was holding? (Like a secret item, weapon, book, etc)

Lumdrop In reply to KeyOllie [2014-11-05 18:27:13 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty much the unchallenged tiny details master by now

Carrying objects sorta makes them a part of you doesn't it? I used to have this tiny metal unicorn I kept in my pockets, that I took with me everywhere, every day. When I lost it, it felt like I lost a bit of myself because of the time it spent with me. Which makes it different than an object like a car or a house because as comfortable as you can feel in a room, it doesn't compare to the sense of real ownership of carrying something. In a way, it becomes part of your body.
So as cool as I think it would be to have petrified statues wearing real clothes, I'd say yes, basically any object the person is touching would get petrified as well...and probably the ground they're touching too, essentially turning them into actual statues.

I hope you touch on this feeling of loss in your comic, since there are certain things that characters of your world seem to carry with them. And we watch as they overcome, or resolve it. ^^

I love all the extra details included with this one! I even noticed Aghugga's eyes have extra mouths and fangs

Was this all done in colored pencil, or did you use some other stuff as well?

Lumdrop In reply to CencanMS [2014-10-29 16:54:18 +0000 UTC]

Neh, all colored pencil except for the outlines (ink) ^^
I tried to use my prismacolors to deepen the shading, but apparently I've neglected traditional so long they all dried out xDDD
=_=;...

Another masterpiece man, very awesome work... only one flaw... no Mellalu eh?... hehe just kidding

Another great idea by the way, gotta go with you sounds more like a game hehe, anyway is Lolo trying to get away or has he not noticed his nemesis?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lumdrop In reply to K1-1YB0 [2014-10-28 22:50:26 +0000 UTC]

Aaaactually, I'm gonna leave this picture open to interpretation
I will say one thing though, that, in the timeline of the story, this was before Mellalu met Lolo.
She's still..."wherever that bird took her" at this point :/

Gah! I never finished that series, did I!? :0

Yeah you kind of let us hanging on Mellalu fate hehe, well by LoloΒ΄s calm attitude I would assume he has not noticed yet, but Lolo can be hard to read somtimes hehe

How long does it take for you to complete an image like this? Let alone ,even doodles/sketches/scribbles?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lumdrop In reply to spongefox [2014-10-28 22:26:20 +0000 UTC]

I worked on it from the time I got home yesterday until like 1am, and a few hours this morning soooo...umm...maybe like 12 hours for this one?
Eek! I didn't realise I spent that much time on it xDDDD

I listen to music when I work on big projects like this, so I kinda lose track of time.
Do you listen to stuff while you draw?

spongefox In reply to Lumdrop [2014-10-29 01:15:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Mostly the same music that I like over and over again.

I haven't been drawing as much as I'd like or want to though.
