Description
Ahhhhh...had to get this outta my systemThis couple combo has already popped up here and there - and I simply have to agree: Asami and Iroh II would make a gorgeous pairing! I was never really convinced of Asami/Mako. She's too...independent?
Anyway. I decided to send Asami and Iroh on a date. Or sort of date. She's probably still not fully over Mako - while he, Iroh, is smitten since the moment these two met for the first time.
I imagine them to mock each other and have a lot of fun, since both seem to be rather quick-witted
Does anybody have an idea for a funny caption??
Iroh's secret: He can't hold his liquor, which is why his beer is still untouched. ... Or maybe he's blushing -because- he had some already.
Imagination running wild
I might or might not work some more on this piece later on. Also noticed only now that I cut the last centimeter at the bottom when scanning the sketch (including my signature...no stealin' peeps lol).
Used random reference for Asami's pose.

Haha XD
I really wonder if the makers browse through dA and other pages to follow the shipping war among the fans XP

I doubt they'd want to deal with the "hate" of some fans....directly, I mean. Not that some people aren't already like, HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO US DIE!!!
^^"

But, I do have a tumblr now XP

Seems like Iroh would be more around Tenzin's age than Asami's. Isn't he Zuko's son? Certainly he looked mature enough, and his position implies a certain amount of experience, one that would be hard to get if he were, say Asami or Korra's age.

Nope. The creators of LoK announced that he's Zuko's grandson ^___^
He also doesn't look as old as Tenzin (or Sokka and Aang in the flashbacks, for example). If he was the son, choosing the same voice actor as Zuko - and making him speak in the same timbre as in the original series - would've have been damn scary...or hilarious
Seeing how Korra and the others look older than 17, I'd say Iroh is 19-22 years old.

Definitely a little older. But that's interesting. Either he's a military prodigy, or there was some political influence behind his appointment. Possibly both.
And good point about the voice, but I could see animators doing that just to indicate he's Zuko's son/grandson. It's a way of instantly conveying his heritage.

Yeah, probably. And yes, I agree. Political influence...as in, recommendation letter from his grandpa XP
And they definitely did that both to make fans of the original series happy and to convey heritage. But I doubt that's the voice actor's normal voice level or rather, the timbre he'd use for someone 30+.
Well, maybe we'll find out more next Saturday!
...and since we're already discussing this. For some reason it always bugs me if they don't make the age of tv/web series characters public o_O

Maybe they figure it appeals to more age groups if they don't actually SAY what age group he's in. Or possibly they themselves simply don't consider it relevant, tv shows tend to fit characters into generations.

Makes sense, especially since it's a YA series.
...I'd still like to know

Watched his mini appearance again, and he looks older than what I remembered lol. 25-30 is probably closer.

...which of course totally wouldn't work in RL, with the general title and all. Buuuut, those rules don't seem to apply in the Avatar universe anyway hehe.

Quite wonderful, actually. He seemed like such a serious person (in the thirty seconds we saw him!) so this is something cool and light-hearted. Excellent work!
