Description So its been quite a while since i've drawn starships, after making all of the UNMC ships i kinda stopped and focused on 3D models. But i decided to get back into the starship business, and this time i'm focusing on the ARC (Allied Rebel Confederation), one of the 3 factions of humanity and the most militaristic of the 2 rebel factions. *A little story background for those interested, if not i'd skip to the second paragraph - The ARC frigate is a small but nimble and quick ship, which is one of its few advantages against UNMC ships. Due to the UNMC being so much more advanced, the ARC takes the time to fully stock their starships with extra munitions and armor, which did provide them with higher survivability during the initial split of humanity and more recently, the Factions War. All ARC ships are at their core, older models of UN ships that have been heavily tweaked, modified, and upgraded since the initial split in 2264. ARC ships are usually angular and edged, with many protruding sections on all sides to enforce the image of being bulked up to fight the UN. During the Factions War, the ARC had managed to gain significantly more advanced technology from stealing UN tech, and from their lengthy partnership with the UN terrorist organization EMPIRE. This allowed their ships to put up a fierce resistance against UNMC vessels throughout the 17 month long war, although they ultimately ended up losing a majority of their engagements. However, the ARC is not always at a disadvantage. To gain support for the Factions War, ARC fleets completely composed of frigates invaded territories of the other human rebel faction, the UMER, and overpowered the more peaceful faction into submission, forcing them to provide materials to fuel the ARC war effort. There have also been battles where ARC fleets were able to outmatch and fend off UNMC fleets, albeit mostly with a ratio outnumbering the UNMC 2-1 or more. After the war the ARC wasted no time rebuilding their shattered fleet with even more UNMC advancements, and recently have started to overhaul production even more with the threat of the Exohumans looming on all of humankind. As recently as 2353, the ARC was known to have a fleet of over 4,000 ships.

*Now, about the actual ship- The ARC frigate is a small vessel usually used for scouting, defense screening, or bait for larger ships. Even smaller than its UNMC counterpart, frigates are normally no match for most other ships, as even during the Factions War ARC frigates frequently were outfought by UNMC frigates and FAW's. ARC frigates lack the advanced Vinculum armor of UN ships, and also lack their stronger weaponry and faster speed. ARC starship mainguns are still based on railgun technology (which the UNMC stopped using as main armaments by 2305), however they are able to recharge and fire faster than UNMC shock cannons, giving them a slight advantage. ARC frigates make up for their weakness by emphasizing on heavy amounts of weaponry and maneuverability, so even if they can't beat an enemy ship they can at least inflict generous damage for larger ships to add to. Frigates are the most common ships in the ARC fleet, making up for at least 30% of their total fleet numbers, and are such are deemed "expendable" by ARC fleet commanders who will gladly throw frigates against larger targets to act as distractions or bait.

How very prestigeous.

My original design incorporated a comically oversized top hat to go with the classy name but then i realized it was a crazy idea, starships wear bowler hats.

Just so, that would have been preposterous. Bowler hats are the ideal combination of aerodynamics and style and the rounded form provideds the utmost armor coverage while giving the ships a spiffy and martial design.

Exactly my thoughts, when an admiral needs to decide how to properly armor his starships before going into fierce combat, they always choose the bowler hat, sometimes with one of those over sized cigarettes that rich people used to smoke back in the day attached to the front for added spiffiness. The daring admiral sometimes goes with a cowboy hat but that's only for the elite few.

Ah, the texas cowboy hat, elegant but somewhat too boisterous and hard to control. It takes men of an entirely different type to effectively helm one of those proud ships and I have seen many who were not up to the task and now only don the safe and tested baretts on their patrols.

Any commander who can't handle a cowboy hat always downgrades to the barett, i think after surviving the deadly missions and responsibility that comes with cowboy hat wearing they are pretty traumatized and cling for the safety of the good old barett. I've witnessed many a man struck down by the southern allure of those hats. Ships only get their own cowboy hats once they've survived through at least 5 brutal battle though, the elite few of the fleet.

I've seen these proud men and women of the cowboy hat brigade survive against insurmountable odds and they make their enemies pay in blood and steak sauce for evey inch of ground.

It's mostly steak sauce actually, you wouldn't believe how many gallons of that stuff were spilled all over the desert soil during those wars. I actually hear that HBO is working on a tv miniseries about the whole thing should be pretty interesting.

HBO does it again. They are truly the most talented to display such a meaningful episode of human history as the steak sauce wars.

I'm thinking a mix of The Pacific, Band of Brothers, and somehow they've gotta just work steak sauce into that equation, it is HBO so i'm sure they could make something even half decent with very little effort on their part.
