Description
I hate this title limit - full title - the mistake in (human) skeletal assignment. If humans are a supposed unmatched breed, that is, of a higher calibre in sophisticated function and intellect, why is it that we are not blessed with a gift so basic to a whole kingdom of animals; it is unfair that humans are unable to fly. Is it that angels have wings and therefore we must earn the convenience of spatial freedom? If that is it, then I am disappointed that an estimated half of our human population will be denied the ultimate blessing of flight.
---
this is anton again... no hes not naked! ....he looks scary here but it makes me laugh. yes, I studied bird models when I made those wings (primarily model magic, thank you very much! yes I really made them!) and yes, wings are mostly made of one large skeletal structure and then expanding cartilaginous flaps etc. just ask maggie, she can explain it way better than i can..and maybe give a demonstration. hehe. i wasn't going to make cartilage, since obviously I am emphasizing a basic human skeletal anatomy theme here. The diagrams used are the same from the previous anatomy piece and are supposely circa early 1900s. And these kind of diagrams are a bitch to blow up or make smaller copies of. blah.
I did a version of this where the diagrams are burned out... but honestly, then the words 'its missing something!' escape my lips and I am back to my original image. the lighting is a tad harsh but it makes me think of julia cameron...so psh. psh times 2.
what is next, might you ask?!!?!??!?! *drumroll* phrases from the english language made into literal visual translations! woosh.
critique discouraged cause honestly, my classes are for that...but feel free to comment or leave input, I just don't want any harsh let-it-all-out-cause-you-had-a-bad-day goin' on.

This picture is exquisite! I lurve it! Plus, the guy is hot! I like how the skeletons on his chest aren't looking like they are tattooed on but instead they look like little minature skeletons on him just standing. Awesome!

Fine work indeed... he's a handsom lad isn't he... could become a mainstay in the modelling or acting world... The wings are supurb... Great stuff Marcy.

concerning the picture, i'm not sure about the two figures floating "in empty background", they look a bit out of place to me, maybe also because they are a bit blurry, compared to the foreground

bird's wing bones always disappoint me a bit, compared to the feathered appearance
bats wings are good, but a bugger to prepare the bones

yeah...i picked bird skeleton over bats skeleton just because of the birds more graceful appearance... i am envious of how birds can 'float'!

true, but i think it doesn't reflect in their stubby bone structure
i'm still wishing for fruitbat wings for one of my marten skeletons, but they don't live around here
maybe you could have outlined the feathers as well, just like the guys in the g/b are outlined, but then again the wings wouldn't have fit into the frame
just thinking aloud, don't mind me

itsokay. and i hope your monitor has its contrast and lightness up all the way soyou can see the arrows and planks bottom and top respectively- so the men at least fit perfectly into the frame. at least, part of them it touching each edge. I could shoot a version with the whole anatomical map in the background (from the other picture of anton.... strict love for anatomy) but i think thats too much information and would make for some clutter in the background. one problem with having it just blank, all black (burned in) like [link] ... is that i think its just asking to be superimposed...it seems incomplete.

i see the arrows, but somehow they don't have the same "depth" as the figures (at least for my eyes) ... except for their position, i don't connect them much, hard to explain, it seems "layered" ...
guess i miss a medium (like a wall or old paper texture) for the figures and arrows to be on
well nevermind, just my 2 cents that no one ever needs

For man? For Marcy? For Marvelous? Is the giant 'M' in the picture on purpose or a happy accident?

i like the colour tones, the lighting of the wings looks some how odd, sort of like a museum piece, how is the lighting done? The whole idea is an awesome one tho and u've defiantly executed it in style.
