Description As promised, I've finally done a tutorial of how I render my portraits using markers. It's not for everyone, but this is just the way I do things when I work.

Very cool tutorial. I normally render with a combination of warm/cool/french grays. Most of the time I am using comic board, which does bleed a bit. I should pick up some hot press to see how it differs.

One thing I do differently is laying down light to dark. Doing the dark first, then blending the colors out is a good idea. Something I'll definitely have to try!

Well done! I've worked with these markers a number of times and feel comfortable with them, but I'm still not sure I could pull off what you do with them. Good job on the tutorial as well. I've been struggling with one of my own, but haven't worked out all the kinks yet.

Thanks man!
Yeah they are very time consuming to render properly, and the fact that if you screw up you're doomed always looms in the back of my mind when I do these things. But the reactions of those believing the work is oil or acrylic from a distance and fining out it's markers is priceless.

Let me know when you get your tutorial off the ground, I'd love to see it!

I get similar reactions when people realize my work is paper. That feeling is priceless. Your marker skills are MAD, MAD I tell you!

I'll get around to my tutorial one of these days. I have part of it written, but still have to finish it and edit it again to ensure that is makes sense to more than just me.

Nice job on the tutorial!

It's not my forte, but, you explained what you do well and wrote it in a way that kept my interest.

Sounds like a difficult skill. Not something I think I'm reday for yet. XD
I'll just stick to my pencil and Photoshop, maybe very watered down acrylics on the rare occasion.
