That's so cute!
How was the video created? (Not the video but I mean the animation.
Was it created in a 3d modelling program and animated from within it?)

Yep, that's right. 3ds Max for the basic animation and Adobe After Effects to emphasize the colors and stuff.

Ah! Thank you. I had a feeling it was most likely 3DS Max and AE. I can't wait to see more from you.

Hehe, sweet nice to hear that from you
And I'm truly enthusiastically waiting for your new releases as well
Next piece I'll submit will probably be an animation from our 3-week animation course
btw, I couldn't get the high-res-version (from your website) of your demoreel to work, but the one in here devart worked fine. Maybe some lint in my codecs, dunno

Very nice. I like the way the sceen is framed. Though I prefer the way it looks when the flash stops...it the village had a more defined horizon line in it, making it more solid. The village in this image seems like it's floating.

Oh damn, that's a very good point.
At first I hated that the film had the high-contrast difference between village-ground and background... but yeah... maybe it must be there and it should be in the image as well. As a matter of fact, it would be nice if there was some sky and clouds to be seen. ... though dunno if I bother to get back to the image once it's finished ...

I love the concept itself.
It just looks so dreamable...

Thank you very much
The whole cracked-but-survived-tree on the rocks came to my head just before I fell into sleep... so that's also kinda entitled comment

Nice
Can you tell me please, how did you model the tree's roots?
Did you subdiv for that?

maxon In reply to TomerM [2006-10-10 06:37:58 +0000 UTC]
yeah, it's pretty much a basic Y-shaped smoothed polygon root, that has been copied all over and tweaked here and there. And manually positioned the vertices to wrap around the rock. I ain't no trickmaster, I mostly do everything manually, unless I happen to know a better way.

That's true. Should test maya some day. But for now, the next program I will make myself to learn is xsi.
