Description
Did a poll on who I should do next. BoCo was the most voted to be my next diesel so here we are! BoCo is definitely an underrated character and with people thinking that he’s just a diesel version of Edward, they’re dead wrong. BoCo has a shorter temper than the blue engine and sometimes takes a while to figure things out, sometimes needing the situation to be explained. E.g. Bill and Ben’s trick on him when he first met them. Okay, small rant over, not onto my own take of BoCo.—————————
Not much is known about BoCo’s history, all the files just say where he’s been throughout his career. Most notably working around Barrow with his siblings. In this alternate timeline, Edward has gone away from Sodor for reasons “classified” and another engine is needed urgently. BoCo is an available engine at Barrow nearby, so Sir Charles Topham Hatt gets him to transfer to the North Western Region in 1965.
This did cause some slight problems with engines wondering if BoCo replaced Edward. But in the end, once Edward came back, the blue engine sorted everything and BoCo soon became a welcomed addition to the North Western.
His mechanical faults were still around however and in 1969, Sir Charles ordered for BoCo to go through a complete overhaul at Crovan’s Gate Works and stay there until all faults were fixed. This was successful and BoCo exited the works six months later, having had high priority by the works.
BoCo mainly switched from the mainline to the Brendam branch line. But eventually just worked on the latter permanently. He has a brake tender called Weighty which he got around the early 1970s and has him when he needs help with pulling heavier goods trains.
BoCo is valued addition to the fleet and all controllers of the North Western are proud to have him on the railway.
