Description I love the movie Jaws and I’ve seen it more times than I can count. Robert Shaw as Quint, Roy Scheider as Police Chief Martin Brody, and Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper are probably some of the best characters ever put on film. I did this picture a long time ago when I saw an old promotional photo of the three main stars of Jaws framed inside a giant shark mouth.

This was colored with a very old art program on my old PC so I tried to spruce it up a bit with Paintshop but there wasn’t a lot I could do to it. If I find the original black and white art I plan on re-coloring it.

Either that or manga/comic book characters work for me. Though I do have trouble drawing arms and legs. and yay on having all the Jaws movies

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to horrorlandcop74 [2015-06-15 21:10:01 +0000 UTC]

The best thing you can do is just draw the arms and legs by themselves. Once you learn to draw them on their own it gets easier to draw them on a figure.

Only the first Jaws is awesome. The second one is okay but it's slow in parts. The third and fourth ones are insanely bad. Like they should have been marketed as comedies that's how bad they are.

Thanks for the advice!btw funnily enough, that's what I was doing all Monday afternoon, practicing drawing arms and legs individually and then I saw your message. It's almost as if I read your mind
And I've only seen the first Jaws ,I'll take your word about the other movies personally I feel sequels aren't always too good,so I try to avoid them.Having said that though, I did like Ghostbusters 2

MJMJR In reply to horrorlandcop74 [2015-06-17 13:32:34 +0000 UTC]

No problem
Mindtaking!

The problem Jaws has once it gets past 2 is they kept using gimmicks to try and draw people into the theaters to see it. Part 3 was done in 3D so there were just ridiculous 3D things thrown into the film like floating body parts or the shark coming at the camera on top of silly death scenes.

And the fourth one came off like a fan fiction written by an idiot. It completely dismisses the last movie and makes the main character seem like she has psychic powers on top of the shark having the crazy ability to follow her across the globe... it's just crazy.

For me it depends on the franchise. Like Indiana Jones was great until the 4th one shit the bed. I love Ghostbusters 2 as well

horrorlandcop74 In reply to MJMJR [2015-06-19 11:23:13 +0000 UTC]

lol yeah

Ew, I can imagine it would look even more gruesome in 3d I try to stay away from really gory stuff, though I do sometimes watch movies by Tarantino. And the fourth Jaws sounds really crazy, though having said that that probably wouldnt have been so bad as a fanfic but compeltely separate from the Jaws movies. I sometimes get the feeling that some sequels are written by people who have no idea about the story in the prequels. Ghost busters 2 was awesome, i have some good memories of going to see it with my parents when it first came out- i was only about 8 so was a bit freaked out But the baby was a cutie and the funny guy who is possessed by the painting was hilarious. What other movies do you like?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to horrorlandcop74 [2015-06-19 16:35:04 +0000 UTC]

This is 1980's 3D technology so it is very cheesy and weird looking in the film especially with it not being formatted in actual 3D anymore. So you just get weird lingering shots of things floating in your face and the gore is really pretty tame by today's standards.Β

Honestly watch the 3rd and 4th Jaws movies and watch how bad they get.

I like so many movies it's ridiculous. I love the Indiana Jones movies. James Bond, Star Wars... I love comedies, action, some horror, drama, suspense... I also adore B movies.Β

horrorlandcop74 In reply to MJMJR [2015-06-25 12:02:08 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, sounds pretty weird and badΒ  Β  Β I'll have to check out those movies myself and have a laugh at the badness of them. I love the James Bond movies too! Out of the Indiana Jones movies I've only seen a couple- Last Crusade and Temple of Doom, and the series which was called 'Young Indiana Jones', i think. My mind has gone hazy.

Speaking of horror movies, I recently had a bit of a horror scenario at home. I was cleaning the blender under the tap and somehow it got switched on even though i wasnt anywhere near the on switch. Nearly hacked off a couple of fingers. Suffice to say I learnt my lesson. Fingers are better now but still a bit hard to type/draw.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to horrorlandcop74 [2015-06-25 22:25:47 +0000 UTC]

It is but still they're a fun time waster and can be funny to watch.Β

I have all the Bond movies on DVD. I'm actually watching The Spy Who Loved Me now.

So you've never seen the original Indy movie Raiders of the Lost Ark? I wouldn't recommend Kingdom of the Crystal Skull unless you want to question reality after the fridge scene.

Young Indana Jones was a good series.

I'm glad you didn't lose your fingers. I always unplug stuff like that before I clean it.

horrorlandcop74 In reply to MJMJR [2015-07-04 19:18:35 +0000 UTC]

That's cool you have the whole Bond series! I personally prefer the older ones, particularly the ones with Sean Connery. What about you? I haven't seen Raiders of the Lost Arc yet.I had an Indiana Jones computer game, which was quite primitive, I think it was the late 80s/early 90s. I loved it,but it was impossible to win because most of the time you'd be stopped by soldiers. it was the Last Crusade.
And thanks,my fingers are much better now.
Oh and, happy 4th of July to you! sorry if I'm late to say it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to horrorlandcop74 [2015-07-04 23:59:57 +0000 UTC]

Connery will always be the best to me. I love all the Bond films and I think each actor brought something cool to the series. I only wish Timothy Dalton had taken over for Roger Moore in A View to a Kill because Moore was really too old to be Bond at that point and I think the tone of the film was much darker and suited Dalton's Bond better.

I used to be really good at the Temple of Doom arcade game. I could never beat it though. I would get to the final boss and just get destroyed.

Good

Happy 4th of July to you as well Β

MJMJR In reply to Hamm-Sammich [2014-03-02 11:13:10 +0000 UTC]

hehe awesome me too! The original Dawn of the Dead is amazing. I constantly quote lines from that movie when I play games with my friends. "We got this man, we got this by the ass!"

I despised the remake of Dawn of the Dead with the running zombies and the other cheesy remakes of his original Dead Trilogy except theΒ 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. That movie was so much better than the original to me.Β

Oh my god ME TOO!! I HATE the "remake" of Dawn of the Dead with a passion but I love the Night of the Living remake. Tom Savini did an amazing job with it. I'm a huge original Dead trilogy fan.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to Hamm-Sammich [2014-03-02 19:08:56 +0000 UTC]

hehe nice Yeah I mean anything with running zombies I refuse to watch it. It defeats the whole purpose of the zombie threat and the suspense of dealing with them.Β

Yeah Savini did awesome with that film. The zombies were scary as fuck, Barbara actually developed into a character you could identify with and cheer on and the little twists he did to the story made it way more fun to watch, especially the ending. I loved that it wasn't a super happy ending but it at least left you with some hope.Β

I love the original trilogy but I sort of lost hope in the series with Land of the Dead and then Diary of the Dead. They became silly and kept making either the survivors into complete morons or the zombies doing too many comical attacks or things. There were moments in both movies where I wanted to rip off my own head and throw it at the screen in disgust

Twenty five... three tons of 'em."

Thanks! I love Jaws

I know there were talks of remaking it a few years back but Spielberg said it was only a "what if I made this today" sort of thing and that he wasn't serious about it.

I can't believe they remade Evil Dead and now I hear Robocop is getting the revamp treatment.

MJMJR In reply to YuriJojo [2009-11-01 13:06:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but at least he went out in a cool way, stabbing the freaking thing, instead of being tangled in harpoon rope and drowned like in the novel. JAWS is one of the few movies where I think it's better than the novel.

Did you ever see the outtake where Robert Shaw was shooting the death scene where he's screaming and he spits a whole moutful of blood into his own eyes?

YuriJojo In reply to MJMJR [2009-11-01 14:22:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh...this is nice o.o
But I know that he dies in another wa, then in the novel.
I didn't read the novel. But I want to.
Jaws is a great movie, so I think the novel is great, too, isn't it?
I'm interested in these informations
(sorry for my bad english. My last english lesson was long ago XD)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to YuriJojo [2009-11-01 15:39:50 +0000 UTC]

I just think it was better than he died fighting rather than being tied to the shark and drowning.

The novel is okay, but it takes a lot of stuff from Moby Dick, including having Quint die just like Captain Ahab.

You might like the novel. It is different from the movie in a lot of parts but it does flesh out the characters more. You should read it when you get the chance.

You're English is fine, I understand you. I talk to a lot of people from Germany and all of them speak English well.

Yes this is a good reason..!
But I want to read this book I'll buy it from Ebay.
Normal book stores didn't sell this anymore!

Yes? Oo
It's only a "copy" from Moby Dick? (I know that movie, too. The old one!)

I'm sure I would like it^^
Hmm yes most of the movies are different from the novels, but this is clear!
If they would film like the novel, the movie would be too long ^^'

Oh okay, nice to hear that
Thank you very much ^__^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MJMJR In reply to YuriJojo [2009-11-01 16:39:27 +0000 UTC]

I think the JAWS novel is out of print but I'm sure you can find a copy on eBay or Amazon.com.

Yes, dolphins and sharks are natural enemies. They will even attack a Great White if they think it is threatening them.

Yes, in Moby Dick, Captain Ahab gets tangled up in the harpoon rope and he ends up stuck to the white whale and drowns. In the novel Quint has the same thing happen to him and that how he dies in the book.

In the movie they wanted to show Quint at a movie theatre watching the old Moby Dick movie and laughing like a maniac at it, but they couldn't get the rights to use the Moby Dick clips they wanted. That would have been funny to see.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

YuriJojo In reply to MJMJR [2009-11-02 13:44:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes I think so, too^^
The book is too old or nobody wants to buy it!

I know!
But I don't like dolphins... >_>

Ow this was bad ><
But why should Quint die like this? I mean he was a great character and
this dead is in some way...not right for him?!
You know what I mean^^'

XDDDDD
Sounds funny XD
