I'm looking at the microgun and I have to say I don't see the joystick configuration being very practical as it looks somewhat more clumbersome than the standard 'chainsaw' grip.

Well, the configuration is based off that of the original chainsaw grip weapon: the T2 minigun. That had a joystick as well as opposed to say, a near-horizontal grip like that of the Smartgun. I do, however, plan to modify the grip on my K-2 from the joystick design, though that is more to do with a new method of charging it.

I see what your saying, I'm just pointing out how the joystick grip would be harder to use in close-quarter situationsΒ

For overall mobility it'll be a be a bit worse, say for aiming upward unless you turn it slightly, but it should be ok the rest of the time. Obviously, the bigger Torul's will be harder to wield in close-quarters, which is why we have the Microgun

but why have the joystick

Easier to move it when firing from the hip and less likely to catch on gear than if you had to lift it up to hold a grip underneath.

Does it load 2 belts of ammo?

Can do, yeah. Then it can be set to feed one or both at a time.Β

That's great because then one can be armor piercing (for light armored APCs) and the other as standard ball for anti-personnel and the firer can switch between one or the other at short notice.

Yup

Plus, when you finish one, you just switch over and let your assistant gunner replenish the empty canister in the meantime.Β

awesome.

Someone would say that that wouldn't make sense if it could be double loaded as the cartridges would need to eject, but I'm guessing that little square hole above the feeding...thingy's, eject them.

Thanks

As for cartridge ejection, no need. The vast majority of my weapons use caseless ammunition, so there's nothing to eject. The only time something would have to be ejected is during a jam. You'd removed the feeding belts and then rack the charging handle to clear the obstruction if it happens

it's OK. I only request stuff for RPs and atm I don't need anything, besides I got Psycho for that...if needed.
