Description This is a reflection on my faith and death. Rather than leave you to warp your mind with this I'm going to explain it and let you into the wonderful world that is my mind. You may want to buckle up.

Some of you may already know that I am a Witch. I'm also very deep into yoga and with that the buddhist ideals and philosophies that go with it. Halloween (or Samhain) is a sacred time for those of my ilk. It is a time to focus on transformation, regeneration, honoring of the dead and of course preparing for winter. This is when the wheel turns, it's a new year and everything begins again. This sacred cycle of life and death exists in both buddhism and Wicca and their similar beliefs on death and reincarnation is probably the best example. Every depiction of buddha has him in a pose or asana that has meaning. This is the reclining buddha and it's said to depict the leader on the verge of death. Being we are in October, I am in the mindframe of transformation and regeneration and death is a part of that thought process. Death of old thoughts, old habits and this image is my marriage of the two faiths that comprise my belief system. The depth of field is shallow because it is neither about the past nor the future, it is about the present moment.

Blessed be.

Thank you for your explanation. It is beautiful and inspriring. I am interested in philosoply and find a lot of merit in what you were saying in your caption. I am not an atheist, but I do not think I follow any conventional religion either. Dawna

I'm friends with a few people who claim to be wiccans, witches, and the like. IMO not because they honestly believe in those convictions, but because they think it makes them different and cool and scary and because they're opposed to Christianity (at one point, my one friend never shut up about her "Bible-thumping grandma")..and to an extent because they think it validates them being "emo and goth."

I'm sorry to rant. It's just nice to hear such a wonderful interpretation from someone who clearly honors their faith (or faiths as it were :d) once in a while.

Yes I'm a Witch. You're entitled to your opinon and yes there is a relation to druids, as much as there is to native medicine women and any other earth honoring religion.

Look, please understand that I am respecting you (the person) but not ur religion. Hopefully, that won't bother you.

But, I must say, I am curious what your link to the Druids is--I'm Ancient Celtic [bloodline] and i'm just a little curious. Please forgive me if this offends you.

marvelous, and as usual your description adds such dimension. I love the tones and DOF. Superb!

I once took one of those cheesy online quizzes to find out the tenets of which major religion most closely resemble your own beliefs, and came up with Mahayana Buddhism. Go, go, reincarnation!

let me get this right, you're a buddhist vegan witch woman.

i get it bad with being just a vegan

you must get a lot more questions than just "what can you eat?"

mucho respect to you for your way of life - very "at one" with nature

*buckled* very meaningful picture. thanks for the explanation of the reclining buddah, i was wondering. Buddism is such an embracing religion. as the honorable Rubina (sp?) says, "you can be a 1% buddhist". I didn't know that wiccans believed in reincarnation though. i learned! I like the depth of field here. and the color scheme, the white and silver looks so pure.

sidhartha laid under a tree next to a stream when he heard a music teacher tell his student

if the string is to loose it will not play and if the sting is to tight it will break

that is when sidhartha became the buddah because he knew then

the the middle way was always the best -
