Description
"Security is an illusion. Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all."We often lose opportunities because we've opted to take the safe and secure path. When we build walls around ourselves, not only do we protect ourselves from the world outside, we trap ourselves inside.
I prefer the unsecure path. Sure it's scarier and I stand a greater chance of getting hurt, but it's the only way I can live.

That's a really nice piece!
I really like the many ways the concept can be perceived.
I love the angle and perspective too!
Wonderfully done!

I like the moral behind this picture :] before reading the comment, I was planning to say that I never saw barbed wire as a symbol of security before, but entrapment. Then again, I feel the same way you do about taken the "other" path.
With my younger friends, everyone wants to become something that has a promising, secure future or career instead of what they want to do. When people ask what I want to be, I say, "A writer" and when they ask what kind, I just shrug. This tends to put them off, because they expect to hear that I intend to be a doctor or scientist of some kind. But why not take the path more suited for you?

I love how your shots always have a story behind them. I mean, you have an idea, it's not just a case of "ooh thats nice, lets take a photo"

brilliant work. This has excellent use of Depth of Field to obscure all the detail except for one 'razor' on the wire. brilliant!

Really great description. I feel in that situation, because I left my country and I travel around.
Some friends and family say it's dangerous. I think staying home and not seeing world is
more dangerous (for my head at least)
And great shot too... with the two colors... horrible that people need these things to keep others away...
They are designed to cause bad wounds if you try messing with them.

Looking at this image from the left hand corner makes me feel like im spinning back in time. I just have this feeling to crawl though that barbwire tube.... I should think twice about that one

Nice picture. Besides, there is a colour unity as there are mostly cold colours, and the contrast between the blue and the mauve looks beautiful. But maybe there is too much blurred, it looks a bit chaotic I find.
"When we build walls around ourselves, not only do we protect ourselves from the world outside, we trap ourselves inside." >>> I agree with you. Too much walls everywhere, too much fence, too much barrier... Too much obstacles.

Hello, i just started a photography coarse in callage and my knowladge on photography was pretty lacking - untill i saw this. i think i just realised what photography is - not getting people to pose in pretenscious ways and sound arty and whatever - its about capturing a moment that expresses the essense of life. I have never seen it conveyed more beautifully.

Something strikes me wrong here. I think it's the focal point, or presence of multiple points, not on a particular plane or line. None the less, I like the concept, and I love the perspective. Don't take my critique too hard though, I'm an amateur compared to you, which is why I don't post any of my photography on dA.

I once tried to climb over the wall but felt my self falling backwards so i reached out only to grab barbwire .. i had to hold on despite the pain because to fail in the flight for freedom was unthinkable .. My hand bled but i managed to pull myself back up and over the wall
I would never let a little pain stop me from reaching my goals

I like what Ben Franklin said (I'm paraphrasing): People who would trade an essential liberty for a little security deserve neither (and will lose both, anyway).
Way to be, Moon.
The DOF is brilliant, here. Gives it such a surreal horror!
