Description
Edit: To all of you whom are saying that 'Monday' is named after the moon, I am very aware of that, the joke is about it being named 'Monday' instead of 'Moonday' which sort of took away from the Moon's glory. Hope it's clearer now.

I don't think it's upset about Monday missing an O.
It's just no one really likes mondays.

Btw, if you read "Monday" in german, there is actually the moon in that day, because "Mond" is the german word for "moon". Just saying. ;D

In French it's "lundi", from "lune" meaning "moon". Saturday is also derived from "Saturn's Day", and some of the other days of the week in French are named after planets too: Mardi is Mars's day, Mercredi is Mercury's day, Jeudi is Jupiter's day.

Samedi is Saturn's day. Vendedi is "market day" or "selling day" and Dimanche is... something else...

Oh, right, Venus's day would actually make far more sense. I was going with "vende" to sell I figured Friday must be traditionally a market day...
Dimanche, Dimanche, what Roman/Greek gods have a name like "Dimanche"...
Incidentally, most of the English days of the week come from Norse gods: Tuesday is Tīw's day, Wednesday is Odin's day (yeah, it's apparently "Woden's day" originally), Thursday is Thor's day, Friday is Freya's day. I don't know why Saturday is Saturn, that seems a little odd, but I guess we get that from the French. Swedish for Saturday is "Lordag" so I guess that must be Loki's day.

Don't worry, Moon. "Monday" is just a corruption of "Moonday". Maybe I'll start calling it "Moonday" instead, since it has a nicer ring to it.

I think in Japan Monday actually uses the kanji for moon, strangely enough. It's called 'getsuyoubi', with 'getsu' being the moon part and 'youbi' being day.
