Description Behold! This is my character Aster in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. She's a Dokkalfar (dark elf), which means she's friendly, but mischievous. I didn't make that up, someone in the game says that. KOA:R is so much fun! There are plenty of issues with it and it was broken with the latest update of Origin (EA! ), but it's so colourful and awesome. And I keep hearing Greg Ellis everywhere, which is quite the treat. I adore that voice.

Anyway, this drawing makes me particularly proud, because one: I drew her without any references. Two: I spent time on the background to make it look more pulled together than my pieces usually do. Three: the decoration in the corner I drew by hand. You can tell, because it looks a bit choppy, but still. It's the tattoo our Aster sports on her forehead, but twisted to fit in the corner.
Minor disclaimer: Alfar are normally athletic, and mine looks a bit chubby here. I can't help myself, I like my ladies with lots and lots of soft curves.

Wow! She is adorable. I like the way you represent females. I detest the stick figures found in most art. The background is really great, you are right it does bring more of a "scene" then portrait feel to this piece. You drew that corner piece?! Oh my word its totally perfect! I dont see choppy at all, in fact I thought it was a brush made by a vector image! As for the eyes, they are sweet, even shy. I don't know the game but it sure seems colorful which is always a plus.

Aw, thank you! I suppose that's a matter of taste; some people just like their women skinny, I guess. I don't.

Why thank you. A vector brush it might as well have been, I use them a lot. But I thought I should be less lazy this time. So there I went through the gargantuan effort of creating a new character with that tattoo and without hair, so I could see what the entire thing looks like. I thought it was just the heart shape in the middle, so imagine my surprise when suddenly, it's got more of an ornate circlet look to it.

Kingdoms of Amalur is fun, fun, fun! Lots of stuff to do. I think you'd like its fairytale-esque atmosphere. Don't ever buy the disc version though, if you do. It requires EA's Origin program, which broke the game after its latest update. So now I'm playing a (don't tell anyone) pirated version. EA customer service keeps apologizing, but they can't find a solution. I had to run a test and save the outcome, which I did, then sent it to them, and they claim they never got it. Naturally I checked back my original message, and lo! It was indeed attached and I could even click it and open it. I don't know what is wrong with those people. Fuck EA and Origin, give me Steam any day.

Anyway, thanks for the kind comments. I usually don't have any trouble drawing them, but the eyes were massively difficult this time. They've been redone about a bajillion times.

I am not sure which company it was, but Fae bought that Spore game (I think it was EA lol). They had the nerve after you paid them 50 bucks for a game, to actually have a limit to the amount of times you could install it on a computer! Those tools actually made an attempt to dictate how and where I play lol. Well the resulting outrage caused a huge loss of respect for them and they had to remove that idiocy but Fae said he would NEVER again buy a single thing from that company. No matter they remedied it, it was the whole notion that they tried to get away with it that lost them a permanent customer. Gamers are forgiving but we have our limits right?

Yes, that's EA, all right. I'm not too fond of them myself, but they have published some amazing games. Some gamers are just too forgiving and loyal. I suppose that's why the industry nowadays is more about cashing in than making amazing stuff. Why go for amazing, when adequate will earn you the dollars?

Eh... Didn't do much you know, except for nagging. Love the fact you actually made a background. Looks better this way and allows you to draw some of the beautiful flora of that game. Also, nice shading.
