Description
"Sexuality is a choice? Okay... So when did you decide to be straight?"Most scientists today agree that sexual orientation is the result of a combination of biological, hormonal, emotional, and environmental factors - meaning that there are many factors that contribute to a person's sexual orientation. Most agree that sexual orientation is not a choice, and it cannot be changed.
Still, some people claim that sexuality is a choice, and that homosexuals and bisexuals are simply choosing to sexually deviate from the 'norm' of heterosexuality.
Point is, sexuality is not a choice, no more than our skin color is a choice, or our natural hair color. It's just a part of who we are, and people who claim they can change are just fooling themselves. That's all I've got to say for now on this topic.

And you appear to be a wonderful example of that behavior.
In the future, if you want your opinion to be worth anything to other people, it would be wise to support your claims with evidence and reasoning. Just saying "X is Y" does not make it so, and it convinces no one.

By saying "sexuality it is not a choice" the stamp does not necessarily mean "sexuality is in your genes".

Exactly. Who the fuck would just chose to be gay anyways when gay people get so much shit for it? You are born gay, or straight, or the rainbow of everything that in between. You have as much control over it as you have control of what color your skin is.

Exactly. This is where people don't understand.
If we could be straight just by WANTING to be, then HELL! We would have with all the crap we go through!
Though not all I guess because of all the happiness n' shit we have with the ones we love~

Yes, the people that think we can just choose are ridiculous. If they really want to understand our pain then why don't they choose to be gay for a while? Of course they can't because they don't want to. I'd never try to force someone to change for my own believes anyways since its sick and showing how unacceptable they are of something new and the real you.

couldn't have said it better myself
If only the ppl who believe in a 'choice' could actually think about what they say instead of just... straight up saying it.
I think that ppl who say that though are actually bi, because for them they can 'change' whenever they want

People don't just wake up one day and decide to be heterosexual/homosexual/etc. Sexual attraction is complex and fluid. There have been people who through their sincere desire have been able to control their attraction to the same sex, even become attracted to the opposite sex. It's not a black and white issue.

They don't contract each other. If you read carefully, you'll see it.
One is saying that people don't choose what sexual attraction they're "born" with. You getting this so far? Okay good.
The next one is saying that some people, through determination, have been able to control that sexual attraction they were "born with". It also says that some people are able to change their sexual attraction.
People are born with sexual attractions. People have been able to change them. They don't contradict.

My first one was criticizing the camp that says "people choose to be gay". To say that people are "born" with same sex attraction doesn't immediately imply it's set in stone. Anyway, attraction isn't just something you're genetically engineered to at birth, and cannot be controlled altered. It's a lot more fluid and a lot more complex than that.

MarkWilder In reply to GamziMakr [2013-12-04 17:06:04 +0000 UTC]
Then why do you state that it *can* be altered by sheer force of will?

The second part of that is exactly why being homosexual is a choice. Your birth genitalia make it unnatural.

GamziMakr In reply to MarkWilder [2013-12-05 19:18:50 +0000 UTC]
Ugh, no. I clearly state that you don't choose the sexuality you have "at birth" or more accurately around the age when you recognize the sexuality that you have. Then I say that it is possible for you to alter it. What part of this is difficult to understand?

It was really rude of you to assume that..
Do you think every Pansexual, HomoSexual, Bisexual, etc, relationship is all about sex??
I've been dating Ethan for awhile now, and we don't even talk about that stuff.
because, you know, I don't really care for it, and neither does he.

I'm educated enough to know that did not choose my sexuality.
Listen, I'm guessing that you're a Christian, right? So am I.
God loves us for who we are, he's not sending me to hell for my sexuality.
In the Bible, it says that the only thing God cannot forgive, is saying "Goodbye" to him.
