Description
There's something that stampmakers sometimes have a habit of doing, especially when using programs such as MS Paint -- and that habit is failing to remove the background from the very edges of a stamp. As you can see in my example, there's a black background behind the stamp itself. In order for the stamp to look like a stamp, and not just a stamp on top of some other color, it's necessary to make sure that the edges surrounding the stamp are transparent.
"But how do I do that?" you might ask.
Well, I'm not sure about how Paint works to fix this transparency problem. I do know that it is possible to make selections transparent inside the program itself, however I don't believe that it will stay transparent if you save it. So, in order to fix this you'll need to....
...Use a different program!
The horror!
I personally use Photoshop , but you can also use other programs like Gimp .

I think it looks nicer to have transparent edges, but if people don't make them that way, I don't care. It's the message that counts.

You can use photo editors for stamp making. Here's some that I use:
www.picmonkey.com/
ipiccy.com/
www170.lunapic.com/editor/
If you want to make a moving stamp, add text to a stamp and continue the text on the next page.
Continue till your message is through. Then google "gif maker." Then you'll have your moving stamp.

Meh. I don't need to make mine transparent. In fact, I may as well not give my stamps spiky borders.

I look back at all my old stamps and cringe because they bled are lacked transparency. Thank goodness I have Paint.NET now to make them look nice. c:

I'm fairly certain that Paint does not allow you to do this unfortunately. There are other programs that do allow you to do this though - GIMP for example is completely free and allows you to save transparent files. GIMP website

Haha, well yeah it's obviously up to whoever's making it. It's a pet peeve of mine, but I tend to look past that sort of thing if I agree with the sentiment behind the stamp.

My stamps end up with that because i used a gradient to change the colour once, and didn't bother to remove the gradient from the areas that are supposed to be transparent.
