Description
The library of an old monastery in Lima. No lighting there but the natural light from the windows in the roof. This due to the danger of fire in the olden... I love the mood of that room...Related content

Are those books in front of the picture really as big as the table/chairs or is it some kind of optical illusion?

Sadly, we weren't allowed to walk into the whole of the library, as I'd have loved to look closer on it. But it is still one of the most awesome rooms i've seen

You mean Lima, Peru? Do you have any idea of when this monastery was built?
(I can be a pain, I know)

Hi, late reply, I know...
There's a wee bit about the monastery here: [link]
It was apparently finished in 1774. The name is Convento de San Francisco in Spanish, or Monastery of San Francisco in English iirc..

Beautiful library! Could you give me more information about the name/location of the monastery? I am a librarian and I feel like it is my duty to visit this place.

You're quite right, the atmosphere is amazing. You can almost see the ghosts of those who've paced this room for centuries--the lighting is gorgeous.
I wish the books weren't in the front however, they are beautiful books, but they break the mood a bit, making it seem to tour-ey (like "and on your left is the ghostly library, just look at those old books" ). But you probably couldn't have done much about that.
Its a lovely, moody piece.

Stunning, truly stunning! You've framed it beautifully with the tomes in the foreground. It gives the impression of an altar to a bygone age and sentiment. The lighting too, creates a very ethereal feel.

THis is a gorgeous picture. THe lighting and the subject matter make it feel as if you have just gone back about two hundred years to take the picture. really, really nice!
