You have to klick the link "Download Image" on the right side of the site. It's a bit tricky and hard to notice.

Thank you so much! I love watercolour and I've learned a lot from you!
omg, I looked at the finished pic before I started reading, now I see, you did the background too with watercolour. It's so wonderfu and impressing!! +stunned+
Really, the whole picture is so amazing!
(btw, where do you get your white? I have one very small pot - can't even remember where I got it and it's sacred to me xD They don't even sell it in the best art supply store we have around here. The one I have is a very cheap little nothing in a very cheap little paint box, but it's one of the best colours I've ever had. +laughs+)
Oh, and I'm utterly obsessed with Elfen Lied so it was double joy reading your tutorial!
Everybody who likes watercolour should read this!! It's great help!
Thank you very much, Noke!

I'm glad you like this tutorial! I got my white button from my local art store. You can also try some other water based paint like gouache paint ([link] ).

I dont have water colors yet but this is good info. when I do go buy some. Do you know any good brands to buy and what not?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nokecha In reply to DarkestMelodiesINC [2011-01-09 09:26:07 +0000 UTC]
The best way to find a good brand is to ask your local art store. I like Faber Castell, but it may not be available everywhere so you can ask what's the best quality in your area.

honestly, not exactly the most specific or helpful tutorial. the steps were very rushed, there weren't very specific instructions/examples of brush srokes that you used. it would've been better if you had taken more pictures between steps rather than posting the finished step. that's all. the painting is good, though.

I assume that the reader knows the basics of watercolor painting before reading this. This is kind of an alternative way to use watercolors. I could have explained things more spesific, but I thought this is spesific enough to get the point across. Thank you for your criticism.

thank you for this tutoiral. i love how you did the hair, i tried that technique and it works really well, but when i add the first light base color then the shading do i add the white to the shading?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nokecha In reply to Yukiko-berrie [2010-12-19 08:35:22 +0000 UTC]
I usually mix colors on a white color button ( [link] ). That way I can make the color thicker. For example if you want to color something with pink: take red color and use water with it to make a thin layer of color. Then let it dry. Then take red color, mix it to the white (put the red color right to the white color button). Then you have a thicker pink which you can now use on top of the first thin red layer. I hope I explained this clear enough
