Graphire is better then Volito... but Graphire is more expensive.. So it's up to her to decide if she needs the features or if she has the money to get the Graphire.

Yeah... But what exactly is it that makes the Graphire better, if you have the same size as a Volito?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Norke In reply to Nosferatu-Iddi [2007-02-05 13:07:06 +0000 UTC]

Volito only comes in 127,6 x 92,8 mm size... while Graphire is available at 208,8 x 150,8 mm. The Graphire also have twice as much resolution then the Volito + two ExpressKeys...

Nosferatu-Iddi In reply to Norke [2007-02-05 15:09:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, But let's say you have two tablets, one Volito and one Graphire. Theyære the same size, and you never use the expresskeys. Then how much better is the Graphire?

Norke In reply to Nosferatu-Iddi [2007-02-05 19:13:21 +0000 UTC]

Only noticeable on a advanced level...

Ah, okay. My girlfriend (who is going to buy a Wacom) is thinking about the Graphire or Volito, but if there's not much change she will notice, I guess she should go for the Volito?

Also, I'm sorry to bother you like this, but since you're one of the best digital painters I know of, could you please give me some critique on a drawing I'm making at the moment? I would love to hear your thoughts about it

Great guide Will look at this if I ever find the money to afford a Wacom -_- I'm stuck with my Aiptek tablet for now. Good price, good working area, but a very thick pen (with a battery -_- ) which makes my lines very shaky. Fine for painting, aweful for line art

Hey talentvolle zuiderbuur
Goed gedaan!

After messing around with a mouse for awhile I started thinking I wanted/needed a tablet if I wanted to make better work.
The prices of the wacom tablets put me off a bit. Spending hundreds for something that you never used before and don't know what it can do for you, can be scary. So I got me a Trust tablet. With its 9"x12" (228 x 304 mm)worksurface for around $120 (little over 90 euro's (where is tha darn euro character lol)). That's a pretty good deal. But Trust products aren't always very reliable. I've had speakers, keyboards and mouses from trust. They'd all end up in the garbage because they just quit working or were totally crap.
I guess I was lucky with this tablet. 'Cause I've had it for almost a year and it still works good.
I'm sort off saving for a Wacom now. I'm very interrested in the pen tilt and the 1024 pressure sensitivity. Trust pens are 512.

Still one question.
Like with the Intuos4 in yout tut. You have an activefield of 12.7 x 10.1. That's not really big. Is having a bigger area to work on a lot more comfortable or does it not matter that much and is it just something you get used to?

Norke In reply to Panlannen [2007-02-04 14:33:28 +0000 UTC]

Intuos has A6 to A4 tablets, so there is choice enough.... The thing with Trust is that they have batteries in the pen... Wacom doesn't need that... The pens are as light as a real pencil.

That explains the cramp in my hand I sometimes get
But is working with a bigger tablet easier, faster and/or more comfortable then a smaller one?

Norke In reply to Panlannen [2007-02-04 19:46:09 +0000 UTC]

Well... I worked on a A4 tablet...that's cool, but I prefer a A5 tablet...

I had a volito too in the beginning (just a few days, I borrowed it) and once you try out wacom, you'll never want to go back, the difference is huge. The first two tablets really suck for digital art.

DevineSilence In reply to Blacklotuscomic [2007-02-04 17:44:31 +0000 UTC]

volito IS a wacom... 'doh

DevineSilence In reply to Blacklotuscomic [2007-02-04 20:36:30 +0000 UTC]

hehe you may be right with THAT I've never had the oppotunity to try a graphire.. it was simply too expensive for me.. but i have to say, that the volito works fine for me too.. and i do lots of digital painting..

Trust - remove that notice... because I've heard of so many people warding others of them. Other then that...

It's a very nice tutorial in a clean layout. Kool. Kinda wish I knew this stuff before i brought it...
