History: Following the death of Godzilla in 2005 during his battle with keizar Ghidorah and the Xillian invasion, world nations realized that it was far too expensive to maintain fighting machines for dealing with the threat of giant monsters AND rebuild their cities in the wake of attacks. With the release of the plans for Mechagodzilla II from the Japanese government, the task of building and maintaining defenders fell to outside organizations.

One such organization, known as Corona Eclipse Enterprises, or CEE, utilized the plans acquired from the Japanese and modified the existing chassis with some of their own designs, creating what was later to become the pinnacle of modern combat mecha (by their standards). In 2014, Riptide was fully unveiled to the public. And not a moment too soon. In June of that year, a strange energy pulse from the dark side of the moon heralded the return of a creature long thought dead.

Neo-Spacegodzilla, the reborn and enhanced version of the creature that attacked Fukuoka in 1994, made a bee-line straight for Earth, only to be intercepted in orbit by the mighty machine. Riptide and Neo-Spacegodzilla engaged in a brief battle, during which Riptide was disabled by a telekinetic pulse while Neo-Spacegodzilla descended to Los Angeles to siphon the city's energy and make his fortress. Riptide recovered and followed in pursuit, where the two engaged in a deciscive battle that leveled most of the downtown area. Riptide was severely damaged but managed to remove Neo-Spacegodzilla fromt he combat zone before returning to base. His opponent vanished from sensors and did not reappear for some time.

Riptide would later go on to confront the vanguard of the Terran invasion force alongside the Berserk Fuhrer, another combat mecha manufactured by a subsidiary group of CEE's. The two of them combined proved to be more than a match for the aliens, causing them to retreat from the area. Afterwards, the alien's true intentions were revealed as they attempted to revive a number of hibernating Ghidorah specimens, namely Cocytus, Enshou, and Raiden Ghidorah. Riptide would be sent to deal Cocytus by himself, only to recieve support from an unusual source.

Neo-Spacegodzilla returned, seeing the Ghidorah monster as a threat to his dominion of the Earth, and engaged it alongside Riptide. The two of them managed to defeat the monster, but both were severely damaged and unable to go against the fused form known as Nexus Ghidorah, whcih was defeated by other monsters. Riptide would go on to participate in a number of small skirmishes against alien monsters before the final confrontation on Manhatten Island. An ancient alien bio-weapon, known as the Apocalypse Dragon (Fal'Nyar), which had been created to battle the Ghidorahs, was revived by absorbing the life energies of so many defeated monsters.

Fal'Nyar was eventually stopped by the combined might of 11 monsters and mechs, Riptide among them. His Corona Eclipse Overdrive Cannon, coupled with the Berserk Fuhrer's Triple CPC dealt part of the final blow that destroyed the beast.

In the end, however, Riptide had suffered extensive damages, and simply repairing the machine was out of the question. A second experimental chassis was modified and converted into the machine's successor, known as Darktide.

Powers:

-Can fire the Super NOVA, a powerful plasma cannon, from his mouth.
-Can fire twin Augmented Nuclear Energy Cannons (ANECs) from his shoulder weapons.
-Has numerous missile launchers in the chest.
-The blades on his wrist can project powerful Plasma Cutters between them.
-Equipped with Electroshock Anchors that can fire from the underside of the wrist.
-Equipped with the Corona-Eclipse Overdrive Cannon, a powerful thermonuclear energy weapon located in his chest that fully drains both of his reactors before focusing the energy into a beam with awsome destructive power.
-NXT Synthetic Neo-Diamond Hybrid Coating allows him to absorb power from heat, plasma, and electricity based attacks, as well as significantly reducing power from cutting and crushing attacks.
-TiTun Armor plating is highly damage resistant.
-Can erect a Barrier Field to deflect attacks from the crystals on his wrists.
-Can fly at Mach 3 in atmosphere. Overboost System allows him to escape the atmosphere for space combat.
