Description
So here's a fully coloured version, done with colouring pencils. I'm not too fond of how space and the earth ended up looking but hey, I still think it's worthy of posting and I hope people enjoy it.Not really much more to say on this one, besides the fact that I poured a lot of effort into it. Feel free to critique away though, please!
I wasn't listening to one song in particular while colouring it, just the entire Project Chaos album which is bitching. Google it and give it a listen if you're a huge Sonic 3 & Knuckles fan.

Time taken: 6 hours approx.
Tools used: edding55 fine line pen, shitty non-specific pencil, WHSmith brand colouring pencils, Adobe Photoshop CS4 (For touching up)

Your line work is impressive. The robot is done well. Of course, in the video game, if Sonic really WERE regular and not Super at that point, he'd fall and die.

It looks pretty cool , I like the way you have coloured eggmans machine and the platform Sonics
on. I sea on the planet is good but a slight issue is that it's not blended enough maybe i'm not
to sure though i'm rubbish at traditional coulouring. I would like to this coloured digitally because
you could add a slight glow to the planet for the atmosphere speaking of the planets atmosphere
maybe you could put some clouds over parts of the planet.

Haha, one step at a time. Clouds over the planet may be a little too advanced for me right now though I'm willing to give it a shot at some point.

Heh, heh... Sonic ran out of ringpower, and I bet Robotnik was expecting him to fall to Earth... but Sonic has a surprise up his sleeve here...?

Fortunately not! It's just one of the platforms left (mostly) intact as the Death Egg disintegrates.

OKAY GOOD. Fantastic angle btw. Will you be digitally coloring this, too? (I think I spotted someone DEMANDING that).

I will be! I've just gotten the hang of the pen tool actually so I'm hoping that I can do a really good job on this. That said, it's going to take a while, what with work and all!
I'm glad you like it!

I've just started using the pen tool for line art myself. I think you'll be able to really make the details pop digitally (especially things like the space to earth atmosphere, the stars, blahblahblah). I'll be looking forward to it!

Oh most definitely. I'm already certain that I'll be using a nice glow effect on the planet, which is much easier to do digitally and will make for a nice atmospheric effect.
Thank you for the encouragement!

I'd prefer to see you digitally-colour this. Sonic turned out well, but the rest is let down by the highly-visible pencil strokes. Which is a shame, because the lineart was nice.

Yeah, the strokes are really annoyingly visible and I can't work out how to do any better. Is it just patience or is it because the pencils themselves are cheap?
I think because this turned out a little underwhelming I am going to submit a digitally-coloured version sooner or later.

Pencils are generally VERY hard to do well. Either a LOT of smudging or blending is needed if you can't get the strokes to 'work' for you, which is why I generally avoid them. Blending is only really possible with costly pencils, so the cheap ones won't have helped; and smudging is best done with watercolour pencils (which additionally you can paint over with water to smooth out, or create wash/gradient effects) -- again, not cheap.
I think a good digital treatment would suit your lineart; it's very crisp and clean, so digital flat-colouring would complement it well.
