Description
The social differences of Brazil being reflected and shown in a single photo. This one illustrates a huge problem of my country: there are many slums in our cities, and they happen everywhere.
These unusual urban occupation of the urban space are often near the noble neighborhoods, and people are really poor. Here in Brazil we have to live with enormous economic differences between people almost always. There are people in the streets asking for money, lots of homeless people and criminality. It's interesting to think that the only difference between them is only the side they were born, although they have completely different lifes... Interesting thing to think about. We have to get used to have our cars "taken care" by people in streets (anywhere you park your car there is always a person asking for money to look at your car to see if someone would steal it, when it's more probable that the "street security guards" themselves do that), to see slums and people living with awful conditions, to see poorness every corner...
It's also interesting to see the picture in a different perspective. Try to hide with your hand one of the sides of the picture then the other, and see that there's almost two worlds colliding there, side by side, even the clouds are separated if you notice. I doubt that one could tell they are that close if they weren't at the same photo.
I present to you people, the third world.

No! Brazil can have its social issues, but it does not get to be trash.

I was actually watching Rio, and when the scene drifted from the city to the neighborhood areas, I didn't think the transition was really that fast, but I guess it is.

I have a friend who's an exchange student to Belo Horizonte (the city) right now. I'll be heading to Rio de Janeiro (the city) in a few weeks to be an exchange student, too. You captured Brasil's beauty and problems at the same time. A truly gorgeous photo. Muito, muito lindo.

This is somehow the most amazing day I saw today! It's really strange how these two "world" lives side by side... I live in Europe so we don't have such extremes here I guess.. But it would be interesting to see that someday.
