Next I hope to have a picture of Saffron up! I've also done more work on chapter 3. It's probably a bit boring because it goes into what Anne's skills are, and ...well... her skills are useful but boring.

*ponyshrug*
I always chose the boring but practical skills xD
The trick (when writing about it) is to use it in unexpected ways :3
Atleast, so I've heard. I have yet to actually write anything including skills like this. Atleast anything beyond a single chapter.

I tried to make it as interesting as I could, and without resorting to too much techno-babble. Time alone will show if I succeeded.

True that, true that.
Heh; I'm actually tinkering with a little story myself now, and my maincharacter is going to be a mechanic too. I didn't realize that you had that skill too before I was well underway planning her character, and now it's too late xD

Hey - they all know how to use guns, pick locks, hack computers and so on. What's wrong with having a good "Repair" skill too

True xD
I try to use the Fallout character creation as a base for my chara though; it seems that's how Kkat and Somber has done it.
Which means I need 3 tagged skills.
I have already decided on Repair (she's a mechanic, has three gears as a CM), guns (after all, she has grown up in the wasteland), but I'm unsure of the third one. Science maybe? *ponyshrug* xD

Sometimes the game calls for a high science for what would be considered a repair - such as getting through the broken door at the National Archives, so Science is a legitimate choice for a repair pony, especially if you are planning to have her repair computers.
I've based my character on how I play the game, admittedly more so on the Fallout-3 system. Her tags would be small guns, repair and.... well, I usually choose lock pick, then boost Science as one of the earlier skills I push up. I play using sniper type weapons and sneaking a lot. I'll push Sneak up well before I increase my energy weapons or big guns skills. Fourth tag (perk) goes to energy weapons, if it isn't already maxed out.
Of course Anne is meant to be a well trained and very experienced player, I chose to start her of at the skill cap. It doesn't mean she's a mary-sue, thank goodness. She wouldn't have a hope with weapons like the missile launcher, mini gun or gatling laser. She's just too small to handle them. On the other hand, Lee has lost a lot of her skills with her brain going nuts. Saffron would not be fully leveled yet either.

I, for once, haven't based this character on how I play myself xD
if it was, then she'd be a Steel Ranger (well, Applejack Ranger) and use assault rifles. xD
Not to mention that she'd NOT have science. I hate the hacking system in Fallout 3, so I pretty much ignore it as much as possible, and that means I always get annoyed when I can't lockpick my way to victory xD
This character is going to use medium armor I'm thinking, and use SMG's. I kind of fell in love with the SMG in Fallout 3 just recently (after hitting lvl 30 xD) and I figured it'd be perfect for my character. Don't ask how I figured that out; in writing, I usually just "feel" myself forward, compared to how I usually do things.
I'm not sure if I'll let my character be a good lockpicker or not. After all, LittlePip has lockpick as one of her tagged skills, and I don't want to enroach on her territory xD
Well, that and it could be interesting to see how far my own chara gets without the skill.
But on the other hoof, she is bound to have been fixing locks for years if she starts out as the town mechanic, so she highly likely knows a great deal about how they work. It'd be slightly unrealistic to NOT have her good at picking them. *sigh*
On a sidenote; I just figured out my second character. THIS one will be Steel Ranger, albeith an Initiate. She'll start out with Recon armor (which is the Steel Ranger recruit armor, aye? I think so. If it isn't, then it's Metal Armor instead or something. ), but later get upgraded to Power Armor.
Guess her weapon?
Miniguns. Fuck yeah. xD
Well, I might add a smaller weapon to her arsenal too, just to, y'know, NOT completely destroy anything behind the target whenever she fires. xD
Hm.
Might be unrealistic to let a recruit use miniguns actually.
Starts out with assault rifle or something then... Hmm... *thinking pose*
Y'know, once the writer subforum pops up on the Fo:E forums, we should move this there. Then, all the other writers can join in if they want too

It may well be. I only did this pic as a reference for some hand drawn art. The models are commercial, or modified from commercial by me.
