I kind of feel bad for the Hell creek's ornithomimid how would an animal that doesn't even have a name be appealing.

IMO, it could very well be Struthiomimus.

Honestly, I voted for Anatosaurus thinking that Ankylosaurus gameplay would probably be more boring, but let's see how it works xD

Very surprised yes. The info about Ananto's social life and how you would have to use your herd members to survive as a juvenile and such sounded so cool. Anyway, a walking coffee table with a tail club is fun too to play.

Nah Anzu oblitarated the Hell Creek Ornithomimid which looking back to it might not had been a great result (no gregarious Dinosaur in the game at all).

This is kinda of reminding me to a certain election on a certain country in which the results of voting surveys were completelly different from the voting results. Very, very few in DA and not that many on the Kickstarter said they were going to vote Ankylosaurus. Well then, let them enjoy their copy paste Trike with tail weapons (a tail that can only move from side to side 45º). Let's see how well the 4 ton, walk pace moving animal does against player controlled 7 ton Tyrannosaurus rex.

Its weird that you say that, because based on the descriptions, Anatosaurus is more similar to Triceratops than Ankylosaurus.
Anatosaurus and Triceratops both revolve around the herd and the protection of babies. And while the male Triceratops doesn't tolerate other males, it never says that it was solitary, like the Anky.

bh1324 In reply to BaryMiner [2016-09-08 23:31:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh really? Let's see about that.

Triceratops are the bane of Hell Creek’s predators. Even a match for the great T. rex (1), these animals are massive, bare formidable weaponry and are extremely aggressive. AdultTriceratops are able to chase off most potential threats. Female Triceratops live in loosely associated groups, sharing resources and providing mutual protection. Males however, will not tolerate other males, and aggressively defend breeding rights to the local female population (2). Females will guard their nests and young, and immature animals will associate with adults as a shield from predators (3). Males and females can be distinguished by differentiation in frill pattern, with males showing the more elaborate display. Both sexes will utilize their horns in intraspecific competition over resources, territory, or social hierarchy. Triceratops can feed on a wide range of small to medium height vegetation, seeking out forest edges for the best fodder.

The beefcake of Hell Creek, Ankylosaurus lives a largely solitary life. Ankylosaurus is a very territorial animal, and tolerates other members of its species only during breeding season (2). While eating is a full time job, Ankylosaurus gains significant benefits from eating specific plants, and therefore must range widely and defend choice plots of foliage, not only from each other, but from other herbivores as well. While adults are rarely bothered by predators other thanTyrannosaurus (1), young ankylosaurs are vulnerable to many Hell Creek predators due to their still forming armor, and must either hide from predators or seek shelter in the company of more intimidating targets (3).

More social depending on gender and different feeding preferences. That's pretty much it at least as far as we know, and well having your narrow defensive weaponary on your tail not on your head, either way you will have to play catch your tail if circled by a Tyrannosaurus rex.

And for the record a loosely associated group will most likely be comparable to the small groups formed by White Rhinoceros, by comparassion Anatosaurus is suppose to move on herds more akin to zebras or antelopes they really are not comparable in number of indivduals or complexity (there's barelly any hierarchy in Rhinoceros groups while in Zebras there is a very strong one with a local stallion and females which compete one another for feeding rights).

Sure, there are quite a few similarities in their description, but gameplay wise, they would be drastically different, whereas Anatosaurus would be the same but on a bigger scale

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bh1324 In reply to BaryMiner [2016-09-08 23:42:26 +0000 UTC]

Citation needed. Please.

Anatosaurus is a fully social animal which will relly much more on flight than fighting at least until reaching maximum size (daily reminder that the avarage size of an adult Anatosaurus is about 9 meters and 15+ meter long individuals were very uncommon). Even when fully grown it still doesn't have the obvious specialized armament present in Triceratops and Ankylosaurus depending more in outbulking it's predators than fending them off. It has a more migratory behaviour than the other species specially Ankylosaurus which is bound to be very sedentary. Unlike Triceratops Hadrosaurid babies were almost undoubtelly altricial meaning that a female Anatosaurus wouldn't just needed to tend it's eggs but also feed the hatchlings for a time.

There's also the fact that we had barelly any Ankylosaurus material, particullary from juveniles, while Anatosaurus is the best known non-avian Dinosaur, from skin impressions, to growth, diet and behaviour.

This is like the greatest karma i've seen in a long time, these Anatosaurus voters where sooooo sure on that they where gonna win, and hated the shit out of their rivals (mostly anky by what i've seen) plus talking about how fun a perfect Anatosaurus would be . And now they're all just whinning about how boring and bad Ankylosaurus is going to be, i bet they probably didn't think about how fun and interesting it would be to be a part of an A.I herd plus the fact that now we wont see any KOS Anatosaurus herds once multiplayer is out lol, in other words, suck it up and stop crying

bh1324 In reply to Toarcian [2016-09-07 15:07:18 +0000 UTC]

The real karma will come once people find out that Ankylosaurus will play almost exactly the same as Triceratops throught all it's life stages, just read the description for their projected gameplay, nearly everything you will do as an Ankylosaurus is done by male Triceratops to.  You can chose between having two similarly flavoured hamburgers but I'll rather would prefer to choose between  hamburger and steak.
