Description
A surreal vision of the end of the world.(FULL VIEW PLEASEl, THERE ARE LOTS OF DETAILS)
Find my illustration services on Fiverr: www.fiverr.com/fabiosanna
A man sitting on the edge of the world sees a swallow flying in the sky. The whole scene is a metaphore of the will to cross a border to reach other places, communicate with other people and live other experiences.
Enjoy and give me feedback please, it was a one week work.
photoshop (with tablet), no photo reference.
-Soon I'll post some particulars, the image in this size cannot render some details-

wow, beautiful!! Love the diagonal you used and the contrast of the blue and green. Great detail too! Although, I get alittle bit distracted by the highly detailed rocky bottom in comparison to the man. Still beautiful work

Thanks! It took me a while to do it, so probably I was too focused in some parts and not too focused on others

I've often dreamt of a flat world when I was a kid. It was wonderful.
I actually believe that, if the world was flat, we'd be less the territorial greedy bastards we are. We'd be constantly reminded we're very very small. It'd be awesome.
I love love this image. Could stare at it for hours. ^^

yes it took me a lot of time as it was my first piece after 2 years of not drawing anything.
But it helped me to come again into art.

Congratulations on the competition. Although I can see how you won it. Just how long did that take? The detail is pretty intense.

hehehe thanks, it took me 7 days if I remember right. A total of 10 days, but some days I worked very few hours, other days I worked full-time.
It was a long and intense time for me as I didn't paint anything from 2 years. Now I got back the passion of it and I'm really happy about this. In January I'll make the show with other 29 artists who have been chosen from around the world. It's a honour to me

Congratulations!
All I can say is that the amount of time spent producing it really shows.
I also took a break from producing artwork for a year.
I had hit a dead end and just needed to quit for a while.

uhmm..that's too bad, but the important is to be back, both of us..it would be a waste I think.
I've been demoralized by my painting teachers...well f*ck them! Now I'm back with triple energy!

Yeah, it certainly would have been a waste.
There's little point in trying to deny that this is what I'm driven to do in any case.

If the bird was fly'n off the edge of the world, where would it be going? Any-hoo, this picture is kinda scary D= What if he slips off the edge!? Eek!

it would go away from that place
heheh I know it's weird, I tried to give it that feeling

Amazing details in here. ^^
The balance is a bit off. More weight is on the lower left corner which cause my eyes to focus in that direction. Not a bad thing, but the tree then leads my eyes off the picture. Understand what I mean?
Maybe if the bird was bigger (more in the foreground) or if the tree curve back into the picture...
:: shrugs ::
I'm not sure what to suggest.
Overall this is an amazing piece. ^^

Great amount of detail in this one. The grass is greatly done in the whole short to long distance detail. the only thing is the river looks a little of in my opinion.

this looks really good, especially the mountains in the background, the clouds and the little creek
his hands look a little weird though, the way they're placed and the shape of them. Kinda looks like they're made out of rubber and there's no bones in them..but hands are very difficult to draw, so it's not a big deal really;;just a minor detail
awesome work

pandracchio In reply to Tattersail [2006-12-12 01:43:38 +0000 UTC]
thanks. Uhmm it's strange, I did thought it was pretty good, I also constructed the whole hand-structure. But you're not the first who told me that...argh..I have to study better those fricking hands!

Tattersail In reply to pandracchio [2006-12-12 01:51:39 +0000 UTC]
my hands are a lot worse, so I shouldn't be picking on other people's hands, really
but I tried to give you some constructive critique, not sure if I succeeded though, hehe. The hands are good, but there's nothing else to criticise in that image and they are more or less the only thing that's flawed...

oh thanks lady! I'm so happy you like it! It took me a while to do it and it was my first real work on photoshop so I was pretty excited when I won the digital competition with it
...mhh can I ask you something? I've seen your page and that you're making the Winter Wonderland contest. I've read the rules and I know that I cannot partecipate if I'm not in your friend list, but I did this piece a few days ago ( [link] ), it's a sad Christmas story I invented for a friend of mine. Let me know please if it's possible, I would really be happy to.
Peace and Merry Christmas!

A truly wonderful image
A very serene and thoughful scene...and it's very nice to have the bird contrast in colour to the rest of the image -the one who is free.
And I love the clouds...I can see so many faces in them.
Nice work

Thanks for the motivation, really! I loved doing this, because it was after a long time without drawing (2 years). But I tried to partecipate to a competition and I won..I'm so motivated now, I'm drawing every day
