Hi this will probably sound silly, and there's probably a way to do it right infront I my nose, but a lot of groups have a short description underneath them (next to the avatar on the groups page.) it will probably be really simple but how do you add that? And help would be much appreciated

On the group's profile page, look for a button that says "Group Info" when you roll over it in the header bar (next to the "Invite" button). You can click the pencil icon to edit the group's description

Invite them as co-founder. Once they are co-founder, you should go to the groups profile page and select "lave the group", and confirm you want to. Once you confirm you want to leave, the system will ask for someone to step in to take your place, and that's when you enter in the co-founder's name

How do I add a contributor to a folder? I know there is supposed to be a button that says "Contribute to this folder", but mine only says "Submit to this folder".

The jargon for groups is very specific, so forgive me if I'm a little confused by what you're asking. Are you saying you want to give the contributor class of your admin team the ability to submit artwork to a specific folder? If you are viewing the Contributor class and give the ability to "submit to this folder" on a specific folder, that ability is specific to the Contributor class. You can edit folder settings by folder by hitting the Manage Members>>Contributors>>"Show all Folder Buttons" text link under the "On Gallery, Contributors" section

Yes, in the group's header bar you should see a section with your avatar in it. If you click that and look at the bottom of that drop down, there should be an option to "Close the Group".

How does one delete a folder from a basic group (not super group) When I click on the drop down menu next to the folder it says that the folder May not be Deleted or Renamed.?????? Thanks
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
parallellogic In reply to Casperium [2012-02-29 00:06:25 +0000 UTC]
That works for me on a basic group - are you certain you have the proper privs in your group to do that, are you the Founder? You may need "Have full Control" in the "On Gallery" section of the Manage Members area to do that. Let me know and I can look into the problem more deeply

Casperium In reply to parallellogic [2012-02-29 01:17:02 +0000 UTC]
I am a contributor, BUT the founder gave me full control over the group ( I have my own group and I can delete and add and rename all but the Featured folder in my group) so since I couldn't fix the problem I hit the reset on it and I am waiting right now for the founder to give me back control so I can go in a perhaps do it from scratch and see if I can follow it from my group and do hers the same way. Even the submit to folders had disappeared. So we will see if I can set it back up, if not then I will ask you again on this. Thanks
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
parallellogic In reply to Casperium [2012-02-29 03:11:11 +0000 UTC]
fyi: The Featured Folder can't be removed, the groups platform is hard-coded to have a Featured Folder.
If the submit has disappeared, that sounds like the privs are heavily misaligned.
When you say you "hit the reset on it", what do you mean you specifically did?
~if not then I will ask you again on this K

The Reset Group Permissions, I was assuming back to the default settings prior to anyone setting them......once I get the founder to give me back full control I was going to go in and set them like they are in my group, which seems to work fine for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
parallellogic In reply to SeolHee [2012-01-26 15:30:05 +0000 UTC]
How do you make a stamp for your group? There are various 100x50px templates out there. However, as a standard user, you will be unable to post the stamp on your profile since it is a deviation. However you can post the group's avatar, or you could create two accounts, one for each half of the stamp, and use their avatars side-by-side on your profile to form a complete stamp.
I'm not sure what you mean by "tag", if I'm off the mark, please let me know.
If you're referring to avatars rather than stamps: :devsnsd-jessica-fc: and :iconsnsd-jessica-fc:

Hello, awesome tutorial, I have a question , How can I delete an affiliate?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
parallellogic In reply to Luna-Akari [2011-12-03 03:17:36 +0000 UTC]
I'll presume you have the Affiliates widget on your group's profile page. In the upper right hand corner of the widget there's the Pencil icon, click and select "Edit this Widget". Select the "Edit Affiliates" button near the bottom of the widget. Continue hitting the "Next page" button until you see the affiliate you want to remove. Use the drop down arrow at the top right of that affiliate's listing and choose "Remove Affiliation"

If you go to the Blog's tab and select the blog you're referring to, there should be a "Edit this blog..." pencil icon at the top right. Once you choose to edit the blog, there should be a text link at the bottom right of the blog that says "delete..." that should allow you to delete the blog

To make it a group that is popular. Getting people in to it and start adding fanart in it.

You've rubbed a bit of a sore spot of mine, so forgive me if I burst your bubble with the following. I don't mean to be a downer or criticize you, I just mean to give you my honest perspective.
To be honest, I think you're getting into group management far, far too early.
The key to popularity is longevity. In my experience, the groups that are truly popular are those that have been here so long they have formed a pillar on which dA stands. The groups I manage I'd consider popular to a degree, but they were around before dA even had the groups system (they were once called clubs).
If you want your group to be popular, I'd urge you to ask yourself how much time are you willing to put into it? Will you still be interested in the group in a week? In a month? In a year?
Is your group general enough in focus that you won't be turning away artists? Or are you focusing on a niche non-canon pairing of background characters from an limited edition anime?
If your sole function in the group is to accept art day-in and day-out without any other interaction from the members of the group, would you be satisfied?
I've seen many users in your situation, new to the site, create groups. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my theory that if a user finds their page is not popular, they seek out ways to make it popular. If groups are popular, groups must be a step to gaining popularity for the group founder's page. In this end, I feel groups are very deceptive, they do not inspire popularity for the admins who put so much time into them. At one time, I poured my heart into designing a set of programs to automate the many tedious process of running a club. Because of these programs, I had a leg up over many other clubs on dA at the time, and my clubs received significant attention, and to a lesser degree I become known among some of the more frequent submitters to the clubs. However, with the release of the groups platform, there is far less or even no recognition of the users who filter through submissions, and groups now are new seen more as automated processes for gaining more exposure.
I think if you're going to start a group, you should think for some time about what you hope to gain from it. If this is simply a personal endeavor because you support a specific fandom, are you willing to keep up managing the group over the long haul? Are your efforts genuinely worth it - or are there already other +groups out there that cater to this fandom?
If the above doesn't deter you, then might I suggest affiliating your group with other groups. Affiliates used to be the most efficient way to get your club out there. The next step would be to look for artwork related to your group and submit it to your group's gallery. Once your club starts posting art, there will be much more incentive for users to start following your group and posting art of their own. Perhaps poke around in the forums - I'd suggest posting a link to your group in the new users forum since your group is technically a new account [link]
