This really makes me want to get 3Dmax. How long does it take to learn how to do something like this?

That is one program I have to try and learn,
Its on my ten things to do list before I die.
I think the image is fantastic, and love the sep process, good work.

this is great!
But....i think i like the first composition of the snakes better.
I reallly want 3ds Max but it is realllly expensive. Even the free trial takes 16 hours to download XD

Oh nice, I like seeing the progress and the changes. I love the idea of the snakes curling together. o_o

(But I am something of a snake obsessor, XD)

The space marine looks really good, nice and detailed, and the light coming from the sabers is awesome. He seems tangled in the snakes' coils, that might be a hard sitch to get out of. o_o (But when you got lightsabers, it's all good XD)

TOR1 [2008-07-16 17:18:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you changed it to the space marine.

But for some reason I like the snakes better without the eyes.. actually i like 7 way better than 8

Birdkiller [2008-07-16 16:45:02 +0000 UTC]

I like it, but there are some things I didn't like. Overall, this is very cool.

I like the white armor to make the character stand out more. It works to make the armor stick out, but does little for the character.

Also, the final snakes are a bit rough. I understand there is no need for a realistic snake. I love the way the snakes are coiled into each other, but I don't understand why you squared their circling. You tamed them a bit. I think the snakes in slide 5 were best.

good job mate, loving the gun/lightsaber concept, if its yours like how the snakes wind with eachother, definatley better than the first few poses

take it easy

Geez, when seeing your entire process it just makes the final piece much more impressive.
Following how you develop the ideas through this process is very inspiring.
Your use of 3D to create a vivid 2D piece is perfect. Makes it more obvious to me what skills I'm lacking.
Thanks for sharing!
