Description
For those who follow my work should know that I try to keep man out of nature in my photographs. However, sometimes a scene presents itself in a way that only can be appreciated with a sense of scale. Here, two hikers explore the slick rock near delicate arch in arches national park. The landscape almost seems infinite for them. In the distance, you can see the road and the parking lot for the delicate arch trailhead. Along the horizon some of the rock formations can be scene including the famous balanced rock (to the right of the elongated butte). While not a long hike, it is all uphill making it difficult for a short amount of time (add about 40lbs of gear, rain, wind, and a busy trail). I shot this while waiting for numerous tourists to get away from the famous delicate arch. Sometimes though, it's the shots you take of something your not used to that help express your feelings the most. The two hikers express my exploration and wonder of this beautiful landscape. Sitting here looking out over everything hunched behind a rock to stay out of the harsh winds and needle sharp rain is something I'll do over and over. So in short terms, this image is more personal than others and I hope some of you can feel what I felt the next time you head out.Arches national park- Utah

Sometimes the human element definitely serves to give scale and perspective. I'm happy you included them in this!

Thanks I appreciate it! Looks like your off to a good start. Reminds me when I first got started and wanted to photograph everything. Eventually you will find what you photograph the best and work on it. At least that's what happened to me.
