Description
Windows 8 startscreen for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8
How to use:
First of all download Avedesk 1.3 hereavedesk.aqua-soft.org/download…
Install it and run the proggy one times to get rid of the intro.
Than copy and paste the Avedesk exe to the main folder of this deviation.
Click on the exe and it should run.
If not the controlpanel of Avedesk will appear and you have to load the theme manually.
Why do i call it SDK (Self Development Kit)?
Because you can use it as it is, or modify it to your likings. Build your own personal startscreen if you want.

No this doesn't work with Avedesk1.4. It is made for 1.3 as told in the description.Sorry.

I can't seem to make it work
I extracted all, and downloaded AVEDESK program.
Run it in Xp compatibility, but I can't seem to find any
"systray" icon in the avedeskfinal folder.
How shall I progress?

Warning: normal loading time on this old clunker is 5-8 seconds. The screenrecorder made it last more than 1 minute.
Thw systray icon appears in your notification area after starting Avedesk. If you are not experienced in customization this is maybe not the best place to start because it needs some manual configuration.

ok I think I managed to fix it all, but
how do I get back desklets I closed?
And how do I make the program start as
I start my computer?

Glad to hear that you finally managed to get it working.
Closed/ deleted gadgets can't be brought back. You have two options to get gadgets.Open the controlpanel, go to the tab desklets and select add desklets. You will get a very big list of gadgets you can add.
For autostart open the controlpanel go to the tab settings/global settings/other or misc(not sure about the english name) and set it to autostart. Or simply make a shortcut of the avedesk.exe and copy it in your autostart folder.

I think you mean that Avedesk is crashing, not your whole system right? And can you tell me the complete crash report?

no just the Avedesk, but when I looked into
global settings there was something about
startup, and when I set it, it stopped crashing,
for now 
and this cuztomisation are really funny!

so I should be able do do my own images for

Yeah that would be great. I cannot do this myself because this computer is to low on resources. It is build 2001. And my Windows8 computer cannot run my screenrecorder because of compatibility problems.

There is no exe file in this deviation. I have no clue why DA denies to upload it.
Normally i use Rapidshare for such things, but it lasts ages to upload such a big file when you are a free user.

Peter, DA prevents the user from uploading certain files that may potentially contain malware.
Question: Is your file a script or a binary file that initializes AveDesk? Binaries (non-.exe files) may also be prohibited by DA for obvious reasons.
In any case, is SkyDrive the only upload option?

This deviation contains Avescripter which enables Avedesk to use VB and Java scripts. Maybe that's the reason.
I will try to upload it to Rapidshare this weekend. Will surely last very long.

Thanks for uploading this! I've been trying to find ways to get my Windows 7 Machine more like Windows 8. Recently I've tried Omnimo in Rainmeter, the Windows 8 Transformation Pack and UX Pack, even finding Windows 8 System Files and looking for the file in Windows 8 for the "End-of-License Countdown Timer" in Windows 8 RTM, so that I can delete it! This makes my life SO much easier!
Although I have yet to download it because I'm in school as I type this, and District Code forbids downloading and/or installing additional program hardware, software, drivers, etc.
District Code can be a real pain in the arse most of the time.

After replacing the shell32.dll while opening VLC I get an error that the program will not open because the file shell32.dll has been reallocated. What should I do now?

This deviation has no shell32.dll. Please try to write your comments on the correct places.

It is this one [link] and sorry it is not the shell32.dll but the user32.dll which has been relocated

I've never released a user32.dll becaus it is a potentially dangerous to change this file. A relocation of the user32.dll can be caused by a shell32.dll if the new one is bigger than the original. So the user 32.dll tries to adress a part of the memory which is used by the shell 32.dll because of its bigger size. This happens only seldom. Use a smaller one and check if the problem is still there.

echt? anonym? oha, das macht es in der tat spezieller in vielerlei hinsicht.
das mit der überraschung das kenne ich und erinnere mich nur zu gut daran. ich war damals erstmal total verdutzt ob der ungewöhnlich hohen anzahl an comments in meinem message center. damals wusste ich nichtmal was DDs sind bzw. das es sie überhaupt gibt. und selbst wenn, dann hätte ich nie im traum daran gedacht, mit meinen sachen selbst mal irgendwann gefeatured zu werden. völlig absurd der gedanke.
diese erste DD (damals gefeatured von `mrrste ) hat mich richtig vom hocker gehauen. so als wenn jemand sagt: "schon die zeitung gelesen?" und wenn du zum laden gehst, um dir eine zeitung zu holen, dann ist da plötzlich dein werk, deine arbeit, dein skin auf der titelseite und in riesengroß.
ein tolles gefühl. aber das kennst du ja nun.
