Description
[Edit]First, a quote from the Codex:
"They give live birth to their young who are capable of eating solid food from the moment they are born. Drell appearance is very similar to asari and humans..." This should explain the breasts, though I might create an alternative one day.
To feminize her I extended the red gill-like things on her neck starting from halfway on her jawline. Also, I thought of cobras when I saw the back of Thane's head so I decided to extend that part of the head, which I call the hood.
[/Edit]
Combined version 1 and 2 of my female drell design. I forgot to include the horn thingies on her head but I think it's a good thing... I like the sleekness ^_^
Anyhoo, this was fun and I hope you like it. ^_^

I love to color but sometimes I wonder if the colors I'm using are what I perceive them to be because my monitor might not be properly calibrated.

You know, as creepy as she looks, I really like this idea of drell feminine beauty. The big cobra neck thing--it makes a lot of sense and is really unique. I wonder if Thane thinks Shep looks really manly. So far we've only seen human ideals of female beauty in the qurians and asari--I've always wanted something different for the other aliens. But, I do agree with the people saying that because drell infants can eat solid food, it doesn't make sense for a drell female to have mammaries. I mean, clearly the "similar to humans" thing isn't across the board, since they have features humans and asari don't.
Just my two cents--I figured any racial concepts deserve them.

When I first drew her, she was just a bust (similar to my illus of the female turian). I was so focused on the head and her facial features that I neglected the body and drew automatically - hence the curves.
I don't really care which way it goes (boobs, no boobs, serrated spikes, more gills). I leave that up to BioWare.
But thanks

Drell do not go through the liquid to solid phase like humans do, they are born capable of eating solid food so milk produced by the mother is not needed. I imagine that female drell would have a flat chest, but the usually curvy form of a woman.

True. Maybe they even eat like snakes do - swallow without chewing. Haha.
...Snakes don't chew, right? XD

I don't see why people think female drells do not have breasts... They are like humans.
THis picture is awesome! *_*

Haha, thanks
I wish they'd include them soon though! I really wanna see how the female drell really looks. (Hopefully close to what I did, but even if not, s'ok with me )

Again, I like it. The intricate neck structure seems uncomfortable to walk around with, perhaps, and I would have liked for the entire thing to be shaded a tad more decisively, but other than that, it's good.
The proportions work well, the silhouette looks appropriately feminine and the dress design is nice, no fireworks, but fairly authentic looking and slick. I have a fairly hard time commending the work behind a picture which I don't find to be "pretty" per se - the lizard-esque features of that species *really* don't appeal to me - but this I can appreciate. You work within the concept, adding a little spin of your own to it.
So, while I dislike the species as it is, that's no fault of yours, and I do like your work here, perhaps even more so, due to not liking the Bioware-created original, male look.
Well done.
peace

Yeah, coloring and shading is a relatively new thing for me, compared to lineart. Still learning a lot ^_^ But you're right about it being indecisive. I kept going over a single spot over and over again. XD
And thank you ^_^

OMG perfect entrace!
I was listening to "Hard Scary hip-hop beat part 2 (Rap) Instrumental" when I saw this pic.
I started to image that drell appearing in that dress with this music, its just... perfect O.O

Pretty, though I doubt they would need breasts, being reptilian and all.

Thank you. ^_^
Drell may be reptile-based but they are not reptiles. For example they give live birth instead of laying eggs like reptiles do. Also, "drell appearance is very similar similar to asari and humans" -- quote taken from the Codex.

Well, some reptiles DO give birth to live young, and they do not need to be milk feed, because they're born with a yolk that feeds them. Forgive me, I'm such a biology nerd. xD

pic-char In reply to Empress-Cethlisss [2010-06-17 04:08:34 +0000 UTC]
So they have yolk too even without being in eggs? XD Nice. I figured there were some that really do give live birth, same way that the platypus is a mammal that lays eggs. ^_^
Anyway, it still says that they have a similar appearance to humans and asari. If the drell do have breasts, and don't breast-feed, they're probably non-functional or have some other function... like camel humps (... @.@ )! If they end up not having any, why bother saying they have a "very similar appearance" to asari? Saying humans is enough.
I DUNNO! I just wanted to draw her that way XD

WELL, yeah, the camel hump thing would make sense... But the males don't have 'em. xD Regardless; I still find her very pretty.

Well, maybe the males have it elsewhere... gahahaha. Just kidding. No idea. We'll just have to wait for the official female drell, if they ever have one in the game... pff.
