Paint.net is another amazing helpful free program the lets you use layers

eeer I do not completely know for sure because I have Windows 8.1, but here is a list of really fantastic apps that are free and are good for looking into
Paint.net/ My personal favoriteΒ
FireAlpaca/ Pretty good, is a good sourceΒ
Twistedbrush/ I do not have and doesn't work for my laptop so this may work for you, but I do not know for sure...
serif/In the process of getting it now
Inkscape/ I don't know much about but I am interested in getting this, and I believe they have it for all laptop/computer types including yours
gimp/ but if you're anything like me you'll hate the setup, or if you're used to a different program you'll still hate it... but who know you might find a likings to it
ok so thats pretty much all that I really know or trust, but the two that I really recommend are the two first ones, I love these two to pieces and they are really simple and allow layers,shading,editing,and awesome stuff like that so just check those two out and mess around to get a feeling to them.
