Description
byso, unfortunately, I don't know what kind of plane this is (but I'm sure you guys do.) it was the biggest non-military plane I've ever seen. I have a few more really good shots of it, but I'll save those for later
taken at DTW during a 4 hour layover
cheers

no doubt a 747
there is never a mistake with that, because, up until the new airbus, it was the biggest commercial jet, bar-none.

I am SOOOOO excited! I LOVE it! It is a Northwest Airlines Boeing 747-400, and the airport is Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport. I live in Hamtramck, and i Se these huge Boeings fly over all the time...they're so beautiful when they make that teardrop turn. today, i was in the middle of the Bengali Strip, when i saw an Airbus A-330-300 make her turn...even though I DON't like airbus airliners, the Airbus A-330 is quickly becoming my second favorite to the Boeing 747...Curses to Airbus because they're killing the sales of the Boeing 747 with their new Airbus A-380!
I WORSHIP the Boeing 747-400, and NO other!

Yep a 747 flown by NWA. Because of the perfectly straight angle this was taken at I cannot tell if it is a SP, 100, 200, 300, OR 400 or X variant. Likely not an SP or 100. It is either a 200 or 400 because 300s are very rare from my experiences.

i love airports and planes, seeing this photo completely made my day.
i'm gonna go with the guess that it's a 747, too. hard to tell from straight on, but since the side windows go underneath the cockpit it appears to be a double decker - and the ony double decker commercial airplane in use is the 747, if i'm not mistaken. airbus is coming out with one, but it's not beyond production yet.

I can't tell but it's either a boing 747-300 or a 747-400, awesome pic by the way

haha he said *boing*, prolly just a typo, but still funny. I just recently found out about this club, all the airplane photos I have were takin at boeing field, though I have much more than are posted...
btw awsome shot, definately captures the size of this thing...

I reckon it was a typo... but still, I often say "boing" when addressing "boeing" because ...
well, because I'm much more of an airbus ("airbust" fan....

that's why I also said my "nickname" for airbus, airbust...
but, now that nobody listens to us... can you compare the beauty of an a330 or an a340 to a boeing?

I can't describe why I love this shot in the way that I do, but I think it is an amazing shot. I think it's because of how neatly it fits into the frame, and how...sexy? it is?
I dunno, you used the word sexy, but I like this thing a lot...it makes me want to fly...I think I'm intruiged by things in the air or something. Oh well, nicely done

yes..it is a Northwest Airlines 747-400...I ABSOLUTLY HATE THEIR NEW LIVERY...this one is much better...and I never could quite figer out their logo until recently...I always thought that it was supposed to be an N and a W with just that line through them so you couldn't really tell...but then my dad pointed out to me that the part that I thought made the W was pointing Northwest...so I'm not sure what to think now...

this is impressive... it's probably one of the most gorgeous plane pictures I have ever seen.
it is in fact a northwest boing 747, and I think you should put this picture up on aviation sites, such as airliners.net...
it's incredible, really...

Beautiful shot. That is a really fine observation. I like the way you framed the work; it is really integrated with the framing of the windows. What aperture did you use? I wonder if you could've gotten the reflection sharper by selecting a smaller aperture.

thanks. this one was tricky because of the difference between the dark inside and bright outside. (but I'll keep your tip in mind for next time.) this was one place I wished I had my tripod.
