Hi, I know someone that is making a Pyro cosplay and maybe you can help me.
What Material the costume is made off and where I can buy it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

protowilson In reply to zeoxdragon [2018-03-03 05:59:06 +0000 UTC]

Red furniture vinyl. I got mine from a haberdashery shop in Australia, but have a look on eBay.

Please and Thank you~

Black furniture vinyl with a rectangle of foam inside to keep the shape.

what of sticking the side mouth piece I see you said bolted but with what?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

protowilson In reply to ghostanjo [2015-04-29 01:58:20 +0000 UTC]

An actual metal bolt. It's threaded through the rubber of the gasmask and into the back of the side-filter.

I've been meaning to cosplay as Pyro for a very long time, and I was just wondering how you made some of the things in the picture. Firstly, I noticed that you had said you made the actual (rubber?) suit yourself. THAT'S AWESOME. I can't find any other costume like this anywhere else, so how did you put the suit itself together? Secondly, I noticed how well done the lower part of the suit was, that with the dark red gradient, and I saw that not a lot other costumes have that effect. But yeah, like what kind of material did you use for the color, and generally, how did you do it? I think that's all I have for questions, but yeah! IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE!

protowilson In reply to AdamBombNickel [2015-02-01 07:33:41 +0000 UTC]

The suit is made from furniture vinyl, and it's a combination of two sewing patterns: a clown suit and a jacket. Furniture vinyl quite difficult to work with and quite a bugger to run through the sewing machine! Because it's non-absorbent, I could use a combination of black Tamaya spray paint and charcoal dust for the gradient on the legs.

I would love to make a Pyro costume, but I don't know the items I would need.
Β I would also like to find someone who sells TF2 costumes, but so far I haven't seen anyone who has.
Could you help me out? Like, tell me what you would need to make one or someone who makes Pyro costumes and sells them?
That would be extremely helpful. Or would you be willing to sell your outfit? I will pay any price even in the 100 $ for one Thanks~

The only place I'm aware of that sells Pyro costumes is on eBay (www.ebay.com.au/itm/Team-Fortr… but they're only a partial outfit and not accurate.
Doing a Google image search on Pyro should give you an idea of what the standard loadout is in order to know what you have to have for the cosplay.
The hardest thing is the weapons. My partner was the one who made them, and he spent a lot of time in GMod, Maya and Photoshop to create blueprints for the weapons which are scaled to my height so they look as close to in-proportion when the ensemble is together. Then he spent a long time building them. It's possible you could find a prop builder who does stuff for cosplayers, but you might have to pay a lot because often these things are custom built and/or made to order. There are some, like Zprops (www.zprops.net/?page_id=2) who have resin kits for certain weapons, but I think only the shotgun is relevant to the Pyro.
The suit was handmade. It was pretty much my first costume that I made, but I did make a trial version in calico first, since it was a combination of two patterns. I won't be selling the suit any time soon, I'm afraid. I have longterm plans to re-do the suit, but can't say when. And if I did sell it, it'd just be the red part; no straps or anything else, so probably not of much help!
I'd have to say that Pyro is the probably the hardest of the 9 classes to cosplay. Having your body covered entirely, and in my case in material that doesn't breathe, is quite exhausting!

Awesome, awesome cosplay, and just one question for reference: how did you make the filters for your gasmask? They look incredible owo

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

protowilson In reply to FrostyBreeze [2014-07-21 09:37:42 +0000 UTC]

The side filter is a plastic pot with a screw-on lid - it was probably a hair treatment or something, or maybe moisturiser - spray painted and bolted to the mask. The front filter I think was the bottom of a plastic cup, with the bottom cut out and replaced with a piece of plastic that had the slats cut out with a dremel.

FrostyBreeze In reply to protowilson [2014-07-22 00:19:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much ^^ How'd you attach the front filter if you don't mind sharing your secret? :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

protowilson In reply to FrostyBreeze [2014-07-30 05:22:36 +0000 UTC]

It's attached to the mask with a couple of screws.
