Description
Crayola colored pencil tutorial. This is ooooold. I did this back in 2005 haha. Just thought I'd upload it here because I still get notes asking me if I have a colored pencil tutorial up anywhere. So yea, like I said, old, but I hope it can help anyway. Also, the file is huuuge so give it a minute to come up. x.x

I've been doing a similar technique for highlights but I've noticed mine look flatter than they should. I think the problem with mine is that I'm using only one color while here you have a lighter color as well near the highlights. I also need to work on learning to use proper strokes rather than going back and forth so much. You did a really good job on both the art and the tutorial. One question: have you considered using a colorless blender rather than a white colored pencil? Personally I find the white washes out the bright colors too much, but that's just me.

Colorless blander also works but when I made this tutorial, I did not own one.

This is so neat! I'm linking it to my daughter and her cousin who both love to draw manga but are always looking to improve their coloring. Such a wonderful and concise step by step depicting a particular coloring style! Marvelous!

Wow how nice! I've also started to use a method close to this one, with the white colored pencil and such.
It turns out really well :3

so you are using the black outlines and 'tracing' over them on another paper? could you clarify that step a little for me? like, how/what are you using to go from black lines to color lines? I mean, it seems to me no mater what you do, black is gonna show up under pink

I erase my lines and then go over them in color. But you could also trace onto another paper. Whatever is easier.

Much like the elderly, despite this being old, it still has many relevant things to say.
Very nice. I kind of remember you saying you had a tutorial, just not uploaded.

I really prefer Crayola but it's a personal preference. I suppose this technique would work with any kind. ^^

If I may be so bold as to suggest a brand, I find that Derwent ones are nice, they come in a tin pencil case that looks like this: [link]
They actually look quite nice when they're used with normal Crayola pencils, if you use the water colour ones as the first layer of colour, the Crayola ones blend well with it.
