Description

I've long been a fan of the original and I wanted to challenge myself by redoing a bird's-eye-view grid map into an isometric view.

So, I figured I needed to start with a map which I already loved and a map which was small enough to not frustrate me if I had to erase and retry large chunks during the process.

Also, I wanted to try that unique crosshatching texture for the solid ground between the crypt's passageways.

Note to self for next time: isometric will feel mentally weird during the penciling stage, but it doesn't sabotage the process of drawing nearly as much as it first seems.

(I think it's because isometric isn't the same as RL perspective at this elevation. IRL, the back/upper features of the drawing get smaller as you look further towards the distant horizon. With isometric, the back/upper features are the same distance from the audience as the front/lower features are, and it causes a short-circuit in your brain. On the plus side, there's something beneficially weird and easier-than-expected when drawing the ellipses.)
