Description
I said to myself: Disney needs an alien princess. I have a horrible, completely un-manly soft-spot for the Disney Princesses. This soft spot is not quite as large as that for Lovecraft, thus you can guess which one won me over. All the same, after thinking to myself how I would LOVE to add a Princess to the Disney princess line, a princess that was interesting, whom I could respect (other than Belle), and who played with the boundaries of humanity but not princessdom, I remembered the story I had written about First Contact. "Omp and Thlet"* Part One: The Technobabble hasn't left my harddrive (and probably never will due to its plot basically being aliens teaching humans programming, language, and David Bowie with radio signals), but it hit me that Anpu would be the PERFECT Disney Princess.
Anpu is a Disney Princess because:
1. Anpu is a princess by birth, the child of Yog-Sothoth and Shub Niggurath who could certainly be considered Kings if not Emperors.
2. Anpu is considerably more girly than the other Dark Young, and enjoys makeup, pretty frilly dresses, and singing.
3. Anpu seriously loves to sing.
4. Anpu is a flamboyant, intelligent, but essentially submissive personality, playing all life like a stage but needing a director.
5. In Anpu's story, this princess goes on a journey to learn about bravery, friendship, tacos, and how in the end we're all alike. (Actually, Nyarlathotep learns about tacos. Anpu remains blissfully unaware of the goodness that is IN TACOS.)
Problems with Anpu being a Disney Princess:
1. It's hard to talk to kids about hermaphrodism. I avoided pronouns for a reason. On the other hand... it doesn't really matter. It's not like Disney movies point out CINDERELLA HAS A WOMB every other scene.
2. Anpu has no official Disney movie.
3. ...yet.
Anpu would be the "Space Princess" or perhaps the "Alien Princess". There are two heads shown here because for some time during the story, Anpu does an Ariel and pretends to be human. Just one of many forms... (including Jackal and twenty-foot centipede)
On the subject of Disney princesses, Megara is not a Princess and Mulan is not a Princess. You can argue for Pocahontas, because she is the daughter of a very powerful Chief, thus their equivalent of Princess. As a matter of fact, I would love it if Pocahontas got more fandom. I would love it if Mulan were a princess (because I loved that movie), but she is neither a princess by birth nor by marriage. Megara seriously annoys me, as a character. Just my personal taste. She is not a princess because she has not been canonically shown to be of noble birth and because she did not marry Hercules. Even if it is implied she married him, he revoked his divinity and royalty by staying on Earth with her. So there ya go, she can't be a princess.
* I'll tell more about the story later when I finish my character designs, but I feel the need to explain that name now. In the story, Anpu contacts a scientist named Fred across the dimensional border. They end up communicating first via radio signals, and then they get full sound. Fred and Anpu learn each others' languages over a few years, but they each have HORRIBLE pronunciation. The first words they learn are each others' names. To Anpu, the name "Fred" sounds like "Thlet." To Fred, the name "Anpu" sounds like "Omp." (like romp or stomp)

PRINCESS ORANGE.
The reason is I hate orange. I can't stand the colour, and yet it is my roommate's favourite colour, so I sleep under its evil auspices every night. ORANGEEEEE *shakes fist*
I'm posting another on tonight (God Willing)! The one for tonight actually looks more princesslike... but isn't the star of the story so... eh.
