Description
For the love of Yog-Sothoth Fullview Please!!This is my finished coloured project for Mr. Gildersleeve's Pencil and Ink 2 class, coloured in my Computer Colouring class. I am VERY proud of it. I intentionally oversaturated the coulours, but if anyone can give me any tips for next time, I'm totally loving the critique! It's a bit late to fix stuff now... ^##^ I absolutely love the first panel and would love that as a print on my own wall (I have a large size I might just post on it's own. It was that one panel that gave me the inspiration on this project. For a druggie, he's looking pretty regal there, so much so that my roommate thought he was a "powerful wizard." Well in the end, he get's his youth back so... there's still time for that.
Cameo by the Absinthe Fairy. See her also in Chibi MM; she came from here originally but I've been slow in posting.
This is one of the few deviations I will actually fully claim under copyright. I am that proud.
Script of nonsensical madness by David Gildersleeve. Really the script was about a man driving away a ghost with a magical mirror then falling unconscious, metting a robot, and waking to find a present the robot had given him.
Sakurazawa Yasunori's face circa 1997 and 2007 belongs to the great man himself. It's photoreference has helped me greatly, and I draw him to honour him. (And then draw him as an opium fiend... ehhhh... tough love? The price of Inspiration?)
Question: Is the drug use here mature content?

Wow Ya! This is awesome. You used saturated colors well and utilized color harmonies unifying the strip overall. The contrast of the saturated colors emphasizes the change in style. Awesome job!

Awww thanks. My teacher didn't like the saturated colours, even when I tried to explain it was a dreamscape. I see where she's coming from though, and in other parts of it I probably could desaturate the backgrounds, but I think the richness of them adds to the fact that all of the comic is an ethereal dream. Your thoughts?

I agree for the most part but I feel like you used the saturated colors well, which is often hard to pull off. I would have toned down the yellow a bit just because it is a little overwhelming on the eyes. Toning the yellow down, or softening it only a little, would bring out the figure more and would unify the piece more to read as a cohesive whole.
Oh and I like the rich colors because you harmonized them together.

Yay! You could tell! That means I draw him recognizably, which is what I was going for. I like to have recognizeable characters, and I use j-rockers to pump up my consistency. COnsistency is a big deal in sequential art, and if I use people whose faces I know, I can take a look at them myself or send them to other people to ask "Hey, does this look like Sakura?" If it does, then I have drawn consistently, if not, then I go back and work on it.
Awww, you're too kind. I must say though, I personally believe that this truly is a portfolio piece.
(Wah! Attack of the giant bozooms!)
