Description
11x14" scratchboard with colored inks. It is based on a photograph I took at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. This was my first try coloring scratchboard and it was kind of an adventure! I used Winsor & Newton drawing inks first but didn't like them, so I switched to Liquitex drawing ink halfway through and liked that much better.I gave the original to my great aunt for her 100th birthday in early October 2009. Prints are available (note me.)

This picture is far more than stunning, the daily deviation is more than deserved. A great view, more than exact details and, well, it's a flamingo, what more do you need? Keep up the great and amazing work!

Wow. Really and truely and beautifully, Wow. I am really interrested in scratchboard and right now i'm curious about the process of coloring the original. How do you do this? What inks do you use? This piece is by far the most beautiful peice of scratch coloring i have ever seen. i would love to hear from you on how you acheive this.

This is beautiful.
You've framed it well, your drawing technique is quite excellent and the colour and texture are exquisite.
It really makes it look like you've drawn each individual feather strand.
The colours have been masterfully chosen. Not only the variance in the traditional flamingo pink mixed with oranges and paler tones, but the ruffled down has a range of yellows, greens and blues, picking out the tonal variance and subtle hues.
