Description
11x14" scratchboard with colored inks. It is based on a photograph I took at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. This was my first try coloring scratchboard and it was kind of an adventure! I used Winsor & Newton drawing inks first but didn't like them, so I switched to Liquitex drawing ink halfway through and liked that much better.I gave the original to my great aunt for her 100th birthday in early October 2009. Prints are available (note me.)

Wow! Great detail! How did you get the different colors? I've only seen single colored scratchboards.

This is just a regular black and white scratchboard, but once I was done scratching in the image I painted it with colored, transparent inks that stained the white parts (but since they were transparent, the black parts stayed black.)

I've seen some amazing scratch board art before, but this is bloody fantastic and blows the ones I've seen/own clear out of the water.
